The couple announced their engagement in October 2025 and Robach reportedly shared at the time, “We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged. We’ve been engaged for just about a month now.”
Holmes then joked, “We wanted to let you all know before anybody else was able to. We’ve learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship,” referring to the 2022 episode when they were photographed together during a New York outing.
At the time, their PDA-filled outing sparked a massive controversy as both of them were married to different people — Robach to Andrew Shue and Holmes to Marilee Fiebig.

The duo were even removed from their anchor duties as ABC News President Kim Godwin said at the time, “It's become an internal and an external distraction, the relationship between two of our colleagues.”
“While the relationship is not a violation of company policies, I have taken the last few days to think through what I think is best for our organization. For now, I'm going to take Amy and TJ off the air while we figure this out,” Godwin reportedly added.
After the firing, Robach said, “I feel the pressure of our careers that I believe were unfairly taken from us and I really wanna be able to do what I love and I wanna be able to do it with you.”
