Amy Schumer seemingly trolls Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's lavish wedding with hilarious jab
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Comedian and actress Amy Schumer playfully roasted singer Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce's extravagant Madison Square Garden wedding in a social media post after the couple tied the knot on Friday, July 3.
Just a day after poking fun at the couple's rehearsal dinner, she returned to social media with another post referencing the high-profile celebration. Swift and Kelce exchanged vows in front of 1,000 guests, but Schumer was notably not among those invited.
Amy Schumer jokes about Taylor Swift wedding
Schumer took to Instagram to share a still from the 2022 series 'Life & Beth,' featuring herself alongside actor Michael Cera. In the image, she is dressed in a wedding gown and sparkling tiara, while Cera appears in a groom's outfit for a wedding scene from the show.
Captioning the post, she joked, "Okay so why weren't we allowed in?"
The latest post followed another joke she made on Thursday, July 2, after Swift and Kelce's rehearsal dinner at Madison Square Garden.
Sharing a photo on her Instagram Stories, she appeared to poke fun at the celebrations while deliberately using incorrect grammar. "Rehersal dinner was sick. Who know was she has planned for us tonight [sic]," she wrote.
The accompanying image showed Schumer smiling while wearing a black crew-neck sweater, red shorts, and a pink fanny pack around her waist.
The comedian made the posts despite previously maintaining that she does not have a feud with Swift.
The wedding celebrations also drew criticism from some New Yorkers, who were upset that the festivities disrupted Penn Station and Midtown during a sweltering heat wave, with temperatures hovering around 100°F.
Approximately 130 NYPD officers and more than 50 detectives were assigned to the wedding events, with security reportedly operating on the scale of a presidential visit.
Amy Schumer faced backlash over Taylor Swift joke
This is not the first time Schumer has joked about Swift. In 2016, after the singer attended the Grammys in an orange-and-pink Atelier Versace dress that revealed her abs and much of her legs, Schumer posted a photo of herself jumping in a bikini.
She captioned it, "Taylor that's not a thigh gap. This is a thigh gap."
The image also featured a friend, believed to be fellow comedian Bridget Everett, playfully posing in the foreground. The post drew backlash from some Swift fans, who accused Schumer of making inappropriate comments about body image.
In response, she posted another humorous image of herself wearing a fake beard in costume and wrote, "That's not a beard this is a beard. So sorry to anyone with a beard this may offend. I am a comic and should never make fun of myself at the expense of anyone else that I wasn't making fun of in the first place."
She also posted on X, then known as Twitter, writing, "How about everyone takes a deep breath."
A spokesman for Schumer later told Time, "[Amy] loves Taylor and was making a joke because [she] doesn't have a thigh gap."
Separately, Schumer filed for divorce from her husband, chef Chris Fischer, in January after seven years of marriage. The former couple share a seven-year-old son, Gene David, and she has maintained that her weight loss was unrelated to their split, saying she slimmed down "to survive" rather than simply "to look hot."
