PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake faced another setback after losing an appeal to reverse her defeat in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election.

Despite losing the election to Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs by over 17,000 votes, Lake never conceded. She alleged that her defeat was the result of election fraud in Maricopa County and has been engaged in a legal battle to overturn Hobbs' victory ever since.

On Tuesday, June 11, the Arizona Court of Appeals denied her appeal for a sixth time, stating Lake's argument "would have been insufficient to overcome" the incumbent's 17,000 vote difference, as per Newsweek.

Arizona appeals court affirms lower court ruling on Kari Lake's election loss

Lake's most recent lawsuit concerned a claim regarding "newly discovered evidence" aimed at proving that Maricopa County did not conduct legally required logic and accuracy tests before the 2022 election.

However, the three-judge panel of Arizona's Division Two Court of Appeals ruled that the purported new evidence was not recently discovered. Furthermore, the expert hired by the plaintiff had insufficient time to analyze it before the trial in May 2023.

The appeals court also agreed with trial court Judge Peter Thompson's decision that the former gubernatorial candidate failed to substantiate claims that Maricopa County election officials or workers had committed fraud on Election Day in 2022.

The appellate court presiding Judge Sean Brearcliffe wrote that Lake's "allegation(s) of fraud leap[ed] over a substantial gap in the evidence presented," as per Raw Story.

"We noted that Lake had 'presented no evidence that voters whose ballots were unreadable by on-site tabulators were not able to vote,' and only' sheer speculation' that issues on election day discouraged a 'substantial number of predominantly Lake voters' from voting," Brearcliffe added.

Furthermore, the appellate court ruled that Lake presented no evidence to support her accusation that Maricopa County Elections Director Scott Jarrett had lied during testimony about an issue with ballot-on-demand printers.

In April, the US Supreme Court denied Republican Senate candidate Mark Finchem's request for a new case regarding claims of vote rigging in the 2022 midterm elections, offering no explanation for its decision.

Lake announced her candidacy for the Senate race in October 2023 to succeed independent Senator Kyrsten Sinema, who has decided not to seek re-election this November.

Internet mocks Kari Lake as appeals court rejects her lawsuit

Netizens mocked Lake's determination to continue her appeal to overturn her defeat to Hobbs in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial race despite losing every time.

One user wrote, "You have to admire her relentless pursuit of continual defeat! She's an inspiration to losers everywhere!" Another remarked, "So, Kari Lake somehow finds a way to lose yet AGAIN. At least she’s consistent, lol."

"How do you keep losing the same election over & over again? I can only hope AZ shows her what losing is like in Nov and give her a trouncing at the polls," added a user. [sic]

Another response read, "Continuously asking the same question, over and over, until she gets the answer she wants equates to banging her head against a stone wall. Seems masochistic."

Another person quipped, "Well she is at least one thing and that is being defeated, she’s really good at that!"

"How many different ways are there to lose an election? Kari's determined to find out," someone else joked.

An individual added, "It's NO WONDER that Kari Lake has been down so long (ie losing) that hitting bottom looks like up (winning)! She's like the Energizer Bunny - spending all that money in losing efforts, which belongs to others, and refuses to quit!"
