PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake has once again delved into election denial conspiracies, casting doubt on the fairness of the upcoming 2024 election.

In a recent appearance on Fox News, the former television news anchor voiced skepticism about the integrity of the electoral process, echoing sentiments that have previously landed her in legal trouble.

Kari Lake conflates immigration and election outcomes

During the Sunday, May 12 interview, Lake asserted that Democrats are complicit in allowing undocumented immigrants to enter the country as part of a broader scheme to bolster voter rolls.

She suggested that these migrants are being registered for Medicare and Medicaid benefits while simultaneously being added to voter rolls, insinuating a nefarious plot to manipulate election outcomes.

"We’re not going to see all these people showing up at polling places," told Lake to Fox News's Maria Bartiromo, adding, "What they want is to have a line in the voter rolls so that somebody can vote for that person, and that’s why they are asking them to register to vote when they get set up for Medicare and Medicaid because they’re giving them all of these services."

Lake added, "They’re asking them to sign up to vote, then they have a line in the voter roll, and somebody will vote under that name."

The Senate candidate's remarks drew parallels to the controversial "Great Replacement" theory, which posits that immigration policies aimed at non-White migrants are designed to alter the demographic composition of a nation and diminish the political influence of White citizens. Critics have condemned such rhetoric as racially charged and divisive.

Kari Lake says she isn't confident that the nation will have a 'fair election' in November

Lake, who is vying for the Senate seat currently held by Kyrsten Sinema, has repeatedly invoked these themes, particularly in the aftermath of her unsuccessful 2022 Arizona gubernatorial bid.

Her campaign has been marked by allegations of election fraud and unsubstantiated claims that the 2020 election was stolen, assertions that have subjected her to legal scrutiny and sanctions.

Despite calls from the National Republican Senatorial Committee to focus on pressing issues such as inflation and illegal immigration, Lake has persisted in promoting election denialism.

During her Fox News interview, she further suggested a correlation between the influx of immigrants and election outcomes, alleging that Democrats are exploiting this demographic shift for political gain.

When Bartiromo asked, "So, how confident are you, then, that we will have a fair election in November?" Lake responded, "If it were today, I wouldn’t be all that confident."

The Senate candidate, however, expressed optimism that the November election would ultimately be fair since "many lawsuits" were making their way through the courts to ensure "illegals aren’t voting."

As opposed to Lake's insinuation, federal law prohibits undocumented immigrants from accessing government-funded programs such as Medicaid and Social Security, according to AZ Central

Moreover, a 2023 poll by KFF indicated that a significant portion of undocumented immigrants remain uninsured, further undermining the Republican candidate's narrative.

Kari Lake slammed for floating voter roll conspiracy theory

One wrote, "No elections are not unfair just because you lost! In fact this is how you lose!" and another declared, "She’s going to lose."

"Katie Hobbs just signed a bipartisan election integrity bill. There’s no reason to doubt the 2024 outcome," pointed out a person, while someone else added, "Lol fragile mindset of a total loser."

"Kari Lake is a disaster...if you think MTG is a problem, then let Lake in...she has a bone to pick with the American alectorate, so she needs to go!" insisted an individual.

With the Senate majority hanging in the balance, her race against Democratic opponent Rep Ruben Gallego is expected to be closely watched, with early polls showing Gallego holding a 4.1 percent lead over Lake, as per The Hill/Decision Desk HQ.
