Ana Navarro mocked as she falsely cites Woodrow Wilson pardoning 'Hunter deButts' to defend Biden

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-host Ana Navarro was trolled online over her desperate attempt to defend President Joe Biden offering his son Hunter a full pardon, reported Whiskey Riff on Wednesday, December 4.
Prior to the general election last month, the outgoing POTUS repeatedly claimed he would not interfere in his son's legal troubles as "everyone is equal before the law."
However, he went back on his words on December 1, issuing a full pardon to Hunter for multiple alleged felonies and misdemeanors, as well as any charges that may be brought against him for his actions dating back to January 1, 2014.

Biden has been roundly criticized for his apparent deceit in seeking to shelter his son prior to President-elect Donald Trump getting back in the Oval Office. However, apart from Alyssa Farah Griffin, all co-hosts of the ABC talk show firmly believe that Biden did nothing wrong.
Ana Navarro's defense of Joe Biden
Taking to the social media platform X on Monday, Ana Navarro attempted to demonstrate how Joe Biden was not the only US president to offer pardon to a member of his family, and thus his action was justified.
Woodrow Wilson pardoned his brother-in-law, Hunter deButts.

Bill Clinton pardoned his brother, Roger.
Donald Trump pardoned his daughter’s father-in-law, Charlie Kushner. And just appointed him Ambassador to France.
But tell me again how Joe Biden “is setting precedent”? 🤣🤣
"Woodrow Wilson pardoned his brother-in-law, Hunter deButts. Bill Clinton pardoned his brother, Roger. Donald Trump pardoned his daughter’s father-in-law, Charlie Kushner. And just appointed him Ambassador to France. But tell me again how Joe Biden 'is setting precedent'?" she wrote in her tweet.
Unfortunately for her, a community note to her tweet pointed out, "There is no evidence that Woodrow Wilson had a brother-in-law named ‘Hunter DeButts]. While at least one person by that name was living during Wilson’s presidency, there is nothing to suggest any relation, or that they were pardoned — the only result is this tweet.”
Navarro's claim was further debunked by GOP operative Zach Parkinson, who stated on X, "There's (unsurprisingly) no record of Woodrow Wilson having a brother-in-law named 'Hunter de Butts'."

Neither had a brother named "Hunter deButts"
And even if you go one degree further, out of Wilson's wives' five combined sisters, none appears to have been married to anyone named "de Butts" pic.twitter.com/WeLwZyvsnE
Sharing from Wilson's biographies, Parkinson pointed out that the former president was married twice, first to Ellen Axson Wilson and then to Edith Bolling Galt Wilson.
"Neither had a brother named ‘Hunter deButts'. And even if you go one degree further, out of Wilson’s wives’ five combined sisters, none appears to have been married to anyone named ‘de Butts',” he added.
Navarro explained her tweet the following day, blaming Large Language Model (LLM) ChatGPT for the claim she made on the platform.
Hey Twitter sleuths, thanks for taking the time to provide context. Take it up with Chat GPT…😂😂😂 https://t.co/4OfMtb09xL pic.twitter.com/TiM2CNkPDw

"Hey Twitter sleuths, thanks for taking the time to provide context. Take it up with Chat GPT…” she tweeted, along with a screengrab of the bot's response to the question of whether any US presidents had pardoned any relatives or in-laws.
Internet trolls Ana Navarro for using ChatGPT as her source of information
While Ana Navarro's second tweet also received a community note stating that ChatGPT and similar bots were not a reliable source of information, netizens further trolled Navarro on the platform for her posts. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.
“'I’m too lazy to do my own research' isn’t the stellar defense you may think," wrote a user.
