PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: A new addition to President-elect Donald Trump's security team has become an internet sensation after being spotted in Mar-a-Lago earlier this week.

The agent in question is a non-human entity named Spot, a robotic dog created by Boston Dynamic that is remotely controlled to patrol the area of Trump's residence, reported Soap Central.

Spot went viral on the social media platform X after internet personality Collin Rugg posted a clip showing the robo-dog on duty at the resort, while children and a few adults were present nearby.

According to the publication, Spot is two feet tall and four feet long and can move at a speed of five feet per second. It has been on duty since November as Trump's security was significantly increased following the 2024 general election.

The robot can reportedly navigate stairs and tight spaces as well as open doors. Equipped with advanced surveillance technology, multiple cameras for 3D mapping and optional thermal sensors, it is priced at approximately $75,000.

While netizens seem to be in love with the robot, people are not allowed to pet it as Spot comes with a 'Do Not Pet' warning.

Former Secret Service agent and CEO of private security firm Talon Companies Ron Williams believes the alleged assassination attempts on Trump earlier this year pushed the Secret Service to adopt advanced technology for improved detection and deterrence.

Robotic dogs are useful at properties at Mar-a-Lago where large open areas are difficult to monitor, claimed Williams. As such, they are becoming more commonly used by law enforcement and military organizations across the globe.
