WASHINGTON, DC: Ana Navarro, co-host of the popular show ‘The View,’ lashed out at the Trump administration for detaining the Mexican parents of an 18-year-old US citizen battling stage 4 cancer.

The parents of the dying teen were detained for illegally entering the United States.

Ana Navarro has criticized Donald Trump and his administration, frequently arguing that their actions and rhetoric are antithetical to Christian values.

Describing the Trump administration as "everything but empathetic", she said that she “heard about a case of an 18-year-old US citizen” who was born in Chicago and has stage 4 colon cancer, but her parents were detained for crossing the US border to see their critically ill son.

She added, “His parents had applied for a humanitarian visa to come and see their dying son, and this administration, which is everything but empathetic, which is everything but compassionate, which is everything but Christian, could have issued a humanitarian visa.”

Judge orders expedited deportation of teen’s parents

The teen has been identified as Kevin Gonzalez, who left Chicago and returned to Mexico after his parents, who had previously been deported to Mexico, were detained while attempting to cross back into the United States.

An Arizona judge has ordered the expedited deportation of Kevin’s parents as he has pleaded to reunite with his mom and dad for weeks.

The urgent plea from the parents was answered on Thursday, May 7, when a federal judge authorized their expedited deportation from the US so they could reunite with their son.

Born in Chicago to Mexican immigrant parents, Kevin was diagnosed with the terminal cancer in January, and he is currently under his grandmother’s care

Kevin Gonzalez stops responding to treatment

After doctors informed the family that Kevin was no longer responding to treatment, his parents submitted humanitarian requests seeking permission to enter the US and be with their son. Kevin’s grandmother, Virginia Amaya, told Telemundo Chicago.

Amaya said the parents later crossed the border after their requests were denied, hoping to reunite with their terminally ill son.

This is not the first time Ana Navarro has called out the Trump admin over the detention of illegal immigrants.

Earlier this year, in February, Ana Navarro called members of President Donald Trump's administration and his Christian supporters hypocrites for not coming out forcefully against Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.

“We hear so many of these Trump supporters forgive and justify anything he does. We hear them quote the Bible. And we hear them talk about how Christian they are. And we hear them advocate for the unborn," Navarro said on an episode of 'The View: Behind the Table Podcast' published on Monday, February 2.
