Andrew Kolvet shared Charlie Kirk texts with Joe Kent, says they may have been sent to Candace Owens
WASHINTON, DC: Andrew Kolvet has confirmed that he shared private text messages from his late boss, Charlie Kirk, with Joe Kent that later surfaced publicly and were used by Candace Owens to push conspiracy claims.
The revelation came during Kolvet’s show on Monday, March 23, where he addressed growing speculation around how the texts made their way into public circulation.
Here are the facts: Yes, I shared the screen grab with Joe Kent because I was told I could trust him and I wanted EVERY possible lead pursued. We've done this quietly behind the scenes with countless items.

Andrew Kolvet confirms sharing texts with Joe Kent
Kolvet acknowledged that he had indeed passed along screenshots from a private group chat to Kent shortly after Kirk’s death.
“All right, so ‘verified’ is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. I do want to confirm what I can confirm, and that is that, yes, in the immediate aftermath, I did provide the group chat to Joe Kent,” he said.
He explained that the decision was made in an effort to be transparent and thorough.
“We don’t throw around accusations recklessly here… in a spirit of looking at every lead, turning over every stone, we wanted everybody that needed to know, to know anything that we knew,” Kolvet added.
At the same time, he stressed that he does not know exactly what happened to the messages after sharing them.
“I was told I could trust Joe Kent, I provided the screengrabs to Joe Kent, and that I don’t know what happened to them at that point, okay? I just want to make that very clear,” he said.
Joe Kent urged texts to be made public, but Andrew Kolvet declined
According to Kolvet, Kent later suggested that the messages should be released publicly - a move he chose not to take.
“Eventually, Joe did message me and suggest that I make those screengrabs public. I declined because those were shared privately… there could be innocent people on that group chat that would then be harmed,” he explained.
However, the texts still ended up in the public domain not long after.
“But then, fast forward another week or two, and they were made public. So that’s what I know,” Kolvet said.
He stopped short of directly accusing Kent of leaking the material.
“Can I 100% categorically say that he leaked them? No. But those are the facts,” he added, suggesting the possibility that the messages could have been passed around further.
Candace Owens used texts to push conspiracy narrative
The resurfaced messages were later published by Owens, who used them to support claims surrounding Kirk’s death.
Kolvet’s co-host, Blake Neff, stepped in during the segment to further clarify the context.
“This is after Charlie’s murder… text messages from a private group chat were made public and were used to… kick off the big conspiracy theory… that Israel or the Jews had Charlie murdered. Which we do not believe,” Neff said.
Owens has repeatedly suggested that Kirk’s killing was part of a larger geopolitical plot, rather than an isolated act.
The case itself involves Tyler Robinson, who allegedly claimed in his own messages that he carried out the killing due to disagreements over Kirk’s views.
The situation has taken on added weight as Kent faces scrutiny beyond the text controversy.
He recently resigned from his post in the Trump administration and is reportedly under FBI investigation for allegedly leaking classified information.
