Angelina Jolie’s lawyer calls Brad Pitt’s attempt to obtain her financial records ‘harassment’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Angelina Jolie's lawyer has called out Brad Pitt after he made a failed attempt to obtain the actress’ financial records.
The actor, 62, had earlier reportedly filed a petition in court, asking for Jolie’s financial records from 2017 to 2019 as they fought a legal battle over Château Miraval, the French winery that was once owned by both.
Brad Pitt’s financial records request denied
Pitt’s request was denied on Tuesday, October 6, by a judge. He, however, still has the option to renew the motion if his former wife mentions those earnings in her testimony, as reported by TMZ.
Following the ruling, the ‘Maleficent’ actress’ lawyer, Paul Murphy, shared a statement criticizing the film producer. He said, “Mr Pitt's unyielding demand for harassing information is just the latest manifestation of his attempts to control her and the narratives in this case.”

Continuing further, the attorney noted that his client “wants and has always wanted to untangle her personal and financial life from her ex-husband. Rather than do the right thing and buy her out at an agreed price, Mr Pitt at the last minute tried to use her exit from Miraval as leverage to force her [to] sign an NDA to cover up his abuse of her and their children.”
“That is what this case is about, not her personal income from five years before she sold her interest,” Murphy asserted.
Angelina Jolie’s financial records dispute continues
Earlier, it was reported that Jolie had allegedly agreed to provide financial records from 2017 to 2021 but ended up producing documents only for 2020 and 2021.
Her step was challenged by Pitt’s legal team, as a filing read, “Jolie's Cross-Complaint alleges that, after the parties' 2016 separation, she put her career on hold, 'forgoing years of compensation'; that Pitt possessed 'substantial leverage and control' over her due in part to her financial condition at that time.”
The filing further stated that by 2019, Jolie concluded she needed to sell her interest in Miraval to obtain 'financial independence' from him."
“On February 23, 2026, Jolie withdrew both her agreement to provide declarations responsive to Request Nos. 81 and 82 for the full 2017-2021 period and her agreement to produce participation statements from that same period,” the documents stated.
The documents added that Jolie only produced “supplemental responses limiting her production to 2020 and 2021, and later produced profit participation statements and tax returns for those two years only as well.”
