WASHINGTON, DC: Far-right media pundit Ann Coulter appeared to disagree with the Donald Trump administration's plans to deport green card holders for participating in pro-Palestinian protests, the Daily Beast reported.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, March 10, the 63-year-old wrote, "There’s almost no one I don’t want to deport, but, unless they’ve committed a crime, isn’t this a violation of the first amendment?”

Her tweet backing the First Amendment, or right to free speech, was in response to a New York Post article that claimed pro-Israel organization Betar had prepared a list of "pro-Hamas" students whom they wished President Trump would deport.

Donald Trump hails ICE for arresting student who led pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist who led pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University in 2024, on Saturday from inside his university-owned apartment.

The arrest was confirmed by the POTUS himself on Truth Social, where he described Khalil as "a radical foreign pro-Hamas student."

He added, "This is the first arrest of many to come. We know there are more students at Columbia and other Universities across the Country who have engaged in pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American activity, and the Trump Administration will not tolerate it."

Trump echoed the thoughts of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who shared on X, "We will be revoking the visas and/or green cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can be deported."

However, the president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Kelli Stump, pointed out that a green card can only be revoked by an immigration judge.

"The government bears the burden of proving the reason that this person is deportable from the United States. And then just depending on what ground we’re looking at, that’s where the fight ensues," she stated.

In the case of Khalil, US District Judge Jesse Furman blocked his deportation from the US on Monday while considering a habeas corpus petition filed by his lawyer.
