WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump had an unfortunate moment during his passionate speech to the joint session of Congress on the night of March 4, when he appeared to spit on his arm, reported the Irish Star.

The incident sparked fresh health concerns for the 78-year-old POTUS, even though it is widely acknowledged to be a common incident among public speakers.

Last month, Trump had his supporters worried about his health after sporting a massive bruise on his right hand during his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in the White House. Even though the bruise was covered with makeup, the discoloration was clearly visible in pictures.

Donald Trump's 'spitball' moment in Congress

While speaking in Congress on a range of topics important to him, such as trade tariffs on the neighboring countries Mexico and Canada, and peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, Donald Trump seemingly got carried away in enthusiasm at the podium inside the Congress chamber.

At one point, eagle-eyed viewers following the address caught a white fleck apparently coming from his mouth and landing on his jacket. As per the Irish Star, the most common conclusion that was drawn was that it was a fleck of spit that accidentally flew from the president's mouth and landed on his jacket arm.

The clip of the moment was uploaded on social media and reportedly went viral across platforms.

Donald Trump's awkward moment sparks mixed reactions

Reacting to the viral clip on the social media platform X, netizens were divided on whether Donald Trump himself was responsible for the fleck or if it was a spitball thrown in his direction. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"I saw that happen live. I figured they would say Trump was foaming at the mouth. Didn’t realize it flew in from the side. Interesting," wrote a user.

"That was the leftover of a McDonalds French fry he ate before taking stage!" jibed another.

"Obviously from the Democratic side. Whoever had a straw was the culprit," claimed a user.

"The left is out of real ammunition," jibed someone else.

"That’s so disgustingly nasty. Are we like in kindergarten here in the classroom?" noted one individual.

"It comes out of his mouth. This has happened often when he’s been speaking," stated another.

"That is pretty funny though," quipped yet another.
