‘At least lie for leverage’: Internet bashes Joe Biden as he says US has no ‘red line’ on Israel in war with Hamas

'There’s no red line [where] I’m going to cut off all weapons, so they don’t have the Iron Dome to protect them,' said the President

WASHINGTON, DC: Talking about Israel's actions in the conflict with Hamas, President Joe Biden stated on Saturday, March 9, that the United States does not have a 'red line' with Israel that would leave the Middle Eastern nation defenseless.

During an interview with MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart, Biden said, "I am never going to leave Israel. The defense of Israel is still critical. There’s no red line [where] I’m going to cut off all weapons, so they don’t have the Iron Dome to protect them."

President Biden says US has no ‘red line’ on Israel in Hamas war

Notably, after giving the State of the Union address on Thursday night, March 7, Biden said he would have a 'come-to-Jesus' meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about how he was managing the conflict. Biden elaborated on this statement.

"He has a right to defend Israel, a right to continue to pursue Hamas, but he must, he must, he must pay more attention to the innocent lives being lost as a consequence of the actions taken," Biden said.

He stated that according to him, Netanyahu is "hurting Israel more than he’s helping Israel … It’s contrary to what he stands for. I think it’s a big mistake so I want to see a ceasefire".

In the lead-up to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which begins on Monday, the President stated that he was hoping for a 'major, major' six-week hostage swap. That seems less possible since Hamas has rejected an agreement supported by the United States and its allies that called for a halt to hostilities, the release of more Palestinian detainees detained by Israel and Hamas captives, and an increase in humanitarian supplies into Gaza.

However, there will, the President said, be "red lines that if he crosses – you cannot have 30,000 more Palestinians dead."

He further mentioned that there are "other ways to deal with the trauma caused by Hamas" that do not result in the death of civilians.

He claimed to have advised the Israeli war cabinet to avoid repeating the mistakes made by the United States decades earlier when it invaded Afghanistan and Iraq in the wake of 9/11 in an attempt to find Osama bin Laden.

Internet mocks President Biden for his statement

President Joe Biden was trolled by several social media users on X after his statement on no 'red line' for Isreal.

A user wrote, "Jesus at least lie for leverage."

Another mentioned, "Not red line? Not even another Holocaust? Sick."

A user also posted, "Someone should tell him Israel left him. The Middle Eastern powers could and should do more. There is no deal to be made now."

A person wrote, "Oh, now there are other ways...He couldn't use those "other" ways before 30,000 civilians were killed?".

Another stated, "He keeps saying "we can't have" a thing, while we continue to get the thing, because he has no red line. It's beyond absurd and sick. His words mean nothing."
