WASHINGTON, DC: In an embarrassing hot-mic moment, President Joe Biden acknowledged that he will have a 'come to Jesus meeting' with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He also claimed that Netanyahu is 'hurting Israel' by not doing enough to defend the Palestinian people.

In an interview with MSNBC's Jonathan Capehart on Saturday, Biden said that the confusing statement he was caught on camera making during his State of the Union address was simply a Delaware phrase.

After adamantly avoiding questions over the remark the day before, Biden said, "What I meant was it’s an expression used in the southern part of my state, meaning a serious meeting. And it was — I’ve known Bibi for 50 years and he knew what I meant by it."

After his State of the Union address, Biden remarked the Jewish state's chief executive and asked Sen Michael Bennet to remain quiet.

Biden said, "I told him, ‘Bibi’ — and don’t repeat this, but [I said] you and I are going to have a come to Jesus." As an aide hurried up to interrupt him, whispering in his ear and yelling, "Sir!", Biden said, "I’m on a hot mic here. Good. That was good."

Speaking to Carhart on Saturday, Biden expressed his desire for a six-week ceasefire in Gaza, where it is estimated that over 30,000 Palestinians have lost their lives since Hamas began its assault on Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people and detaining hundreds more.

According to Biden, Netanyahu is "hurting Israel more than helping Israel," and the enclave's strong military reaction supports this claim. Biden stated that Netanyahu "must pay more attention to the innocent lives being lost as a consequence of the actions taken," even while he supports Israel's right to pursue Hamas, as per the New York Post.

“It’s contrary to what Israel stands for. And I think it’s a big mistake," Biden mentioned regarding the death toll in Gaza.

He added, "I want to see a ceasefire. And I’m starting with a major, major exchange of prisoners for a six-week period. And look, I’ve spoken with the majority of the Arab leaders from Saudi Arabia to Egypt to Jordan, they’re all prepared to fully recognize Israel and begin to rebuild the region."

Internet takes a jibe at Joe Biden for his statement

People on the internet ended up trolling President Joe Biden after his statement saying that he will have a 'come to Jesus meeting' with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and claimed Netanyahu is 'hurting Israel' by not doing enough to defend the Palestinian people.

A user on X posted, "A “come to Jesus” meeting? Sure, that’s the kind of rhetoric we need right now. Do you think Joe just sits around and thinks: “What’s the worst possible thing that I could say?”"

A person also added, "Gonna go out on a limb here and say Netanyahu ain’t “coming to Jesus” any time soon," while one mentioned, "President Trump would never be so reckless."

A user also posted, "Staged hot mic I bet," while one stated, "None of his business. He needs to worry about hiding own country."
