Barack Obama shares why he admires 'friend' Joe Biden after President's DNC speech
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Former US president Barack Obama admired Joe Biden for "his decency, and resilience" after his speech at the Democratic National Convention.
Obama praised his former VP over X (formerly Twitter), as the sitting president gave an emotional speech at the event.
“What I admire most about Joe is his decency, his resilience, and his unshakable belief in the promise of our country,” wrote the ex-president. “Over the last four years, those are the values America has needed most. I am proud to call him my president, and I’m so grateful to call him my friend.”
Joe Biden addressed ongoing Hamas-Israel conflict at Chicago DNC
Joe Biden served under Barack Obama from January 2009 till January 2017, before winning the 2020 presidential election against Donald Trump.
During his historic address, Biden took to the stage, with chants of "Thank you, Joe."
“I’ve been too young to be in the Senate and too old to stay as president, but I give you my word, I am more optimistic about our nation than when I was elected as a 29-year-old senator, " Biden said in his speech.
The first day of the Democratic National Convention was marred by protests, especially those calling for the end of the Hamas-Israel conflict, per NPR.
“We are working around the clock … to prevent a wider war, to reunite hostages with their families, to surge humanitarian health and food assistance in Gaza — to end civilian suffering of the Palestinian people and to finally deliver a ceasefire and end this war," Biden acknowledged.
After the President concluded his speech, Kamala Harris joined him on stage, and the two hugged. “I love you so much, " the Democratic presidential nominee said.
