Barbara Eden, 95, says she is 'okay' after film festival announces absence due to 'sudden illness'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Barbara Eden has issued a statement after it was shared that she won’t be attending a film festival “due to a sudden illness.”

The 95-year-old actress was expected to attend the Cinecon Classic Film Festival in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 5. But at the last moment, it was announced that she “will no longer be able to appear in person.”

A statement shared by the festival organizers read, “We’re sorry to share that, due to a sudden illness, Barbara Eden will no longer be able to appear in person at Cinecon tonight. Barbara is deeply regretful that she had to cancel at the last minute, as she had been very much looking forward to seeing everyone and celebrating with us.”

“We know how many of you were excited to welcome Barbara. We appreciate your understanding and join you in sending her our best wishes for a speedy recovery,” the Cinecon Classic Film Festival added in its social media post.

Then, in a statement shared on the veteran star’s various social media platforms on Sunday, she clarified, “It’s okay everyone! I’m okay! Oh, my goodness there has been a bit of miscommunication.”

Eden further revealed that she’s not suffering from any illness but a recently prescribed new medicine has given her “nasty side effects.”

“Due to the discomfort, my doctor ordered me to remain at home until it can be sorted out. What awful timing for this to happen! My deepest appreciation to everyone for the concern,” the ‘Flaming Star’ actress said.

Eden also called the health issue “just a speedbump!” as she added, “I expect to be out and about as soon as I’m given the go-ahead! Again, my love and thanks to everyone for all the concern.”

As per reports, this year’s Cinecon Classic Film Festival, happening from September 3 to September 7 at the Landmark Nuart Theatre, has decided to honor Eden with the Cinecon Legacy Award.

But in her absence, it was said that her 'All Hands on Deck' co-star Pat Boone will receive the award on her behalf.

Meanwhile, Eden turned 95 on August 23. Just days before her birthday, she spoke with Entertainment Weekly, where she shared that if a role is “well written, I’d probably do anything. If it’s well written.”
