LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Barbra Streisand slammed the whopping earnings from former president Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, made during their White House roles, as per The Mirror US.

The 82-year-old actress brought attention to the former first daughter's income while criticizing the media for being "obsessed" with Hunter Biden's problematic appearance at his father, President Joe Biden's White House meetings.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Streisand noted the lack of scrutiny over Ivanka and Kushner's significant wealth gain during their White House tenure.

"The press was obsessed with Hunter Biden. But barely a word about how Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump made 82 million dollars while working in the White House," the singer wrote earlier this week, garnering 3 million views on the platform.

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner gain hefty earnings despite opting out of salaries for White House stint

Streisand's post highlighted how Ivanka Trump's earnings during her role in the White House should not go unnoticed despite her distance from her father's third presidential bid.

Ivanka and Kushner did not receive salaries for serving as senior advisor and director of the Office of Economic Initiatives and Entrepreneurship and senior advisor and director of the Office of American Innovation, respectively, during Trump's first and only tenure.

However, the couple raked in significant income from their interests outside the White House. The financial disclosures showed that the former first daughter amassed $3.9 million from the Trump International Hotel, $5 million from the now-shutdown fashion line, and $2 million from her stakes in the Trump Organization as per a 2018 report by The Washington Post.

She also made $289,000 from Penguin Random House, which was an advance payment for her book, 'Women Who Work.'

On the other hand, Kushner secured $70 million from stakes in his family's real estate firms.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics, a leading watchdog in Washington, found, in a separate investigation, that the couple's joint income during their White House tenure was between $172 and $640 million.

Hunter, who was convicted in a gun trial in June, would stand for trial in the federal tax trial in California scheduled to begin on September 4.

Internet divided over Barbra Streisand's remarks about Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner's wealth

Barbra Streisand's criticism of the hefty earnings of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner due to their time in the White House and the media's obsession with Hunter divided the social media space into two.

A group of netizens defended the former first daughter and her husband, claiming that their actions were legitimate, while another sided with the actress.

"This is a very low-information post. Please stop pretending you all know tons about politics. You don't," a user said.

While another remarked, "I’ve never understood this. So gross. Yes, Hunter messed up, but Ivanka and Jared make Hunter look like an amateur. DOJ, where are you?"

"They made much more than that before they were in the White House... and they have legitimate businesses. What "legitimate business" does Hunter have? What was he 'selling?'" a third user asked.

"Not only are they culpable, but Ivanks has escaped unscathed from all NY state charges," read a fourth response.

"Probably because Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump already had their established jobs before the White House AND they paid their taxes!! Stop being stupid, it’s unbecoming!" someone else wrote.

Whereas an individual said, "We know who is bought and paid for. Corruption is alive and well in Trump world."

"The Trump family has legit businesses and the Biden family does not, they were only in politics. You are the dumbest person Internet," another user claimed.

On the other hand, a user said, "Barbra makes a very valid point! The MAGA made a big stink about Hunter’s lap top which turned out to be a big NothingBurger but no one is saying crap about Ivanka & Jared making millions off their jobs in the White House!"
