WASHINGTON, DC: Barron Trump was hailed as the “future of the conservative movement” by the president of the College Republicans of America, Will Donahue, without having any notable personal involvement in politics, USA Today reported on Wednesday, February 19.

The statement was made by Donahue after the organization forced the president of its New York University chapter Kaya Walker to step down in light of calling the 18-year-old son of President Donald Trump "an oddity on campus" in an interview with Vanity Fair.

Barron attends the Stern School of Business at NYU, where he enrolled as a freshman last year. Walker shared that he did not have much social life in college, an opinion shared by other students as well, who noted that six-foot-seven Barron is always surrounded by security.

Will Donahue's take on Barron Trump

In the press release denouncing Kaya Walker's comments and stating that she is stepping down from her role in the CRA at NYU, Will Donahue hailed Barron Trump as the "future" and invited him to join the organization.

"Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement, and we would be honored to have him join College Republicans of America,” he expressed. "Strong leadership is built on resilience, courage, and the humility to rise above petty hostility - qualities that Barron has already demonstrated. We invite Barron to join us in shaping the future of our party."

The statement shared on X further reaffirmed the CRA's support for the MAGA movement, noting that the organization had broken precedence by endorsing Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

When USA Today asked Donahue why the CRA was hailing Barron as the future, he reportedly said, "We believe that MAGA is the future of the conservative movement, and that the youth will spearhead the institutionalization of Trump's policies in our politics.”

“Young people want fair trade, reasonable immigration policy, and no new wars, and that is what MAGA offers,” he noted, adding that Barron was yet to respond to the invitation.

Donahue is reportedly correct about a rightward shift being observed among Gen Z in the 2024 election. As per the publication, voters in the age group of 18-24 supported Democratic nominee Kamala Harris by 10 points in 2024, while the figure stood at 29 points for ex-POTUS Joe Biden in 2020.

Internet decries Barron Trump as conservative 'future'

Netizens reacting to Barron Trump being hailed as the future leader of the conservative movement slammed MAGA as a cult on the social media platform X. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"What a cult. Has Barron spoken 5 words in public over the last year? And yet he's already anointed as 'the future of the conservative movement?' The GOP has decided it prefers monarchy," shared a user.

"God help us all," wrote another.

"What is happening? What is this dynastic nonsense?" inquired a third.

"What? He has made no moves or statements to justify this. They endorse handing over political power based purely on family membership?" chided a fourth.

"Barron Trump is the future of the conservative movement….where do they get these monarchial fantasies based on absolutely no evidence from a basically mute college student," mocked a fifth.

"Please, spare us!" quipped yet another.
