Barron Trump's friends reveal what it was like to attend high school with Donald Trump's youngest son
WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Barron Trump's high school experience was way different than the average American teenager.
The youngest son of former President Donald Trump, who was reportedly always accompanied by the Secret Service, had to attend his high school classes under an alias and was subject to a total social media blackout to ensure his safety at the prestigious Oxbridge Academy.
Barron Trump was enrolled in high school under the name 'Jack'
Staff and students were familiar with Barron Trump, although he was enrolled under the name Jack in school records and computers to prevent the disclosure of his personal data or academic records.
The exceptional measures were part of a highly confidential security initiative aimed at safeguarding the privacy of the Trump offspring and protecting him from danger throughout his three-year tenure at a prestigious private school in West Palm Beach, Florida.
His former classmates, hailing from affluent, Republican-inclined families, recall Barron as a delightful and well-mannered student who was passionate about soccer and took pleasure in playing the video game 'Clash of Clans'.
Yet, the handsome 18-year-old was regarded as somewhat of an enigma as he refrained from participating in sports, attending parties, or dining with his fellow students.
At the insistence of his fiercely protective mother Melania Trump, Barron was also prohibited from appearing in social media posts and was the sole student not to receive a single mention in the academy's Resonate yearbook.
"Barron was very funny and sociable. He would start the most random conversations and could be very entertaining," told one of his friends to DailyMail. They added, "He was also very mysterious. He never attended football games or dances. I don't think he met up with anyone outside of school or went on dates."
The friend further noted, "If he had a girlfriend, it was a top secret we never knew about it. I’m sure he had fun in his own way but it was a bit of a shame that he didn’t get to have a normal high school life like everyone else."
Barron Trump's high school days were trouble-free
Barron Trump enrolled at Oxbridge Academy in 2021 after his parents moved to Mar-a-Lago. His attendance was kept under wraps as the staff were required to sign NDAs.
However, the prestigious school made headlines in May when former President Trump decided to attend his youngest son's graduation. The guests were screened with metal detectors and Secret Service snipers were positioned near the ceremony.
A friend mentioned that Barron completed roughly half of his work online. On the days he was present at school, his Secret Service SUV typically arrived around 8.30 am, aligning with the time when the lobby emptied and classes started.
He was universally known as Barron but suppressed giggles rippled through his classmates whenever an unsuspecting substitute teacher called out "Jack" during the morning roll call.
"He had multiple agents who would rotate throughout the day and there was always one with him wherever he needed to go. The agents would stand right outside the door during class. If he went to the bathroom they would go with him and wait outside," shared a friend.
During a 911 incident at a nearby supermarket, which prompted a temporary lockdown of the school, it was reported that an agent rushed into the classroom to escort Barron to safety until the situation was resolved.
Nevertheless, for the most part, Barron's school days proceeded as usual, without any mischief or trouble, his friend noted.
"A lot of parents had concerns that the school could become a target when they heard he was coming to Oxbridge," stated the friend, adding, "It was a really big deal when he arrived and everyone wanted to get to know him. But after a while it became normalized. The kids barely took any notice of the Secret Service."
Barron Trump never ate lunch with his classmates
Despite being small by Florida's standards, Oxbridge Academy, founded in 2011 by William Koch, the brother of GOP mega-donors Charles and David Koch, boasts 24 varsity teams, equestrian and sailing programs, and an aviation school equipped with a full-motion flight simulator.
The school prides itself on a 100 percent college acceptance rate for its students, with alumni securing spots at prestigious institutions such as Cornell, UCLA, Vanderbilt, and Howard University.
In high school. Barron took an interest in aviation and excelled in his science studies. He enrolled in a mix of honors and honors seminar classes, which are the most challenging academic courses the school offers.
He wore the same uniform as other students, navy pants, a red or white polo, and a sweater, but stood out among the crowd due to his towering height of 6 ft 7 in (206 cm).
During lunch, Barron and his friends would gather in the cafeteria, where students enjoyed gourmet meals reminiscent of a high-end restaurant's offerings.
"It was buffet style. They had American food, Asian and Indian food. There was a salad bar, a fruit bar, and on special holidays they would serve steak," shared a friend.
Barron consistently joined his friends in the lunchroom but never consumed anything. He never explained why, only mentioning that he preferred to wait until he got home to eat.
A friend said, "It was a little unusual."
If Barron had a significant social life, it was separate from school and involved very few of his classmates, as observed by a friend. His parents preferred to keep him away from social media, and he was notably absent from the yearbook, the friend disclosed.
They further mentioned, "A lot of the students consider themselves Republicans and everyone was super excited when Trump showed up for the graduation."
Internet reacts as Barron Trump's friends recount his high school years
Immediately after the Daily Mail published the news on its platform, readers began to share their thoughts on Barron Trump's high school experience.
One wrote, "Sounds like a lonely experience, doubt he has many friends," and another said, "So sad. I feel sadness for him."
"I feel sad that he can't eat lunch with the rest of his friends, but instead spends it eating lunch with the Secret Service. Same with parties, dates, dances, sports, etc. I hope he will still become a well-adjusted adult," hoped a person.
Someone else claimed, "The kid never ever SMILES. Never ever EVER. One must NEVER SMILE," and one more stated, "Poor kid. Sounds like a lonely existence."
