NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Law enforcement sources disclosed on Monday, July 29, that the Secret Service delayed former President Donald Trump from taking the stage at the 2024 Bitcoin conference at the Music City Centre, citing it as a security lapse.

On July 13, during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, an assassination attempt on Donald Trump resulted in two spectators being injured and one fatality. Secret Service snipers neutralized the shooter, Thomas Crooks, but faced backlash from several politicians and the public.

The Secret Service told the New York Post in a statement on Monday that a delay occurred because two individuals were bypassing the metal detectors. Although both were "credentialed and screened," they were removed from the premises for not following the proper entry protocol.

A Secret Service spokesperson said, "It was determined that there was no protective interest with these individuals and there was never a threat to the former president."

According to sources, Trump was scheduled to deliver the keynote address but was told by his security team to hold off until the two individuals were found.

Notably, neither of the two have been criminally charged.

After the July 13 attack on Trump, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle faced flak from several individuals and eventually ended up resigning on July 23, according to CNN.

She wrote in her resignation letter, "In light of recent events, it is with a heavy heart that, I have made the difficult decision to step down as your Director."

She added that the agency "fell short" of its duty to "protect our nation's leaders" on July 13, the day of the shooting.

Donald Trump states US will be the crypto capital of the world

During the Bitcoin Conference on Saturday, July 27, Donald Trump stated that if he returns to the White House, he would ensure that the federal government never sells off its Bitcoin holdings.

He said, "For too long our government has violated the cardinal rule that every Bitcoiner knows by heart: Never sell your Bitcoin."

He added, "This afternoon I’m laying out my plan to ensure that the United States will be the crypto capital of the planet and the bitcoin superpower of the world and we’ll get it done."

The former president's remarks coincided with the 2024 presidential race increasingly focusing on the competition for the votes and campaign funds of America's top fintech adopters.

Throughout his speech, Trump attempted to highlight differences between the strict regulatory approach that has defined the Biden administration and the Republican Party's growing acceptance of cryptocurrency.

The ex-POTUS said, "The Biden-Harris administration’s repression of crypto and bitcoin is wrong and it’s very bad for our country. Let me tell you if they win this election, every one of you will be gone. They will be vicious. They will be ruthless. They will do things that you wouldn’t believe."
