NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Former president Donald Trump spoke at a Bitcoin conference on Saturday, July 27, delivering a speech that left attendees unimpressed and sparked a wave of criticism.

His attempt to integrate his usual political rhetoric with the cryptocurrency theme was met with ridicule, as many attendees found his address to be disjointed and lacking substance, as reported by Raw Story.

What did Donald Trump say at Bitcoin conference?

At the conference, Donald Trump discussed his cryptocurrency plans. He stated he would retain all Bitcoin currently owned or obtained by the federal government, describing it as a "national Bitcoin stockpile".

He also promised to promptly establish a "Bitcoin and crypto presidential advisory council".

Addressing the energy requirements for cryptocurrency mining, he acknowledged, "You need tremendous amounts of electricity".

He proposed constructing new power facilities "to get that done", specifically mentioning his intention to rely on "using fossil fuels".

Donald Trump's speech at Bitcoin conference draws flak from attendees

Donald Trump's speech at the cryptocurrency event included his usual political talking points, with a few references to Bitcoin thrown in. However, this approach did not resonate with the audience.

One attendee, Kai Meinke, expressed his disappointment, calling the speech "embarrassing", as per Raw Story.

"This embarrassing Trump rambling at #Bitcoin2024 conference about electricity, Biden as a terrible human being and other nonsense is hurting. It is hurting my brain, it hurts what #btc stands for and the reputation of the community. What a shame!" Meinke said.

Another attendee, Martin Vrijland, noted a significant drop in the price of Bitcoin during Trump's speech. He stated, "#Bitcoin was above $69.4K today until Trump started speaking at the Bitcoin conference #Bitcoin2024Nashville and it dropped all the way down to $66.6K."

Mike Doan, who was initially excited to hear Trump speak, found himself dozing off during the address. "I was excited to hear what Trump had to say about #bitcoin then I [fell] asleep listening to him ramble and pander to the crowd. I have to remind myself, vote for the platform, not the personality," Doan claimed.

Thomas Young shared his disappointment, describing the speech as a missed opportunity.

"My initial impression was this was a campaign stop at a Bitcoin conference - not so much a Bitcoin speech. He threw some trinkets out there - but this was a huge missed opportunity for this crowd. Frankly, I hoped for more," Young commented.

Marc van der Chijs echoed these sentiments, suggesting that Trump's speech failed to win over new supporters within the Bitcoin community.

"I don’t think Trump’s speech will gain him a lot of new voters among Bitcoiners. The other way around, many will now see him for what he really is. It was my first time watching him speak live. He sounds like a low IQ conman to me, I wouldn’t believe anything he tells me," he asserted.

Despite the harsh reception, Trump's involvement in the cryptocurrency world marks a significant shift.

He has embraced the industry, allowing his campaign to accept Bitcoin donations and accumulating around $4 million worth, according to a source familiar with his fundraising efforts.

Trump's stance contrasts sharply with the Biden administration, which he accuses of waging a "war on crypto" through regulatory measures.

Donald Trump trolled for unimpressive Bitcoin conference speech

The online community was quick to troll Donald Trump for his failed Bitcoin conference speech.

One Facebook user commented, "Outside of MAGA world Trump is seen as a low-level conman. He’s never going to expand his base because he’s inept when it comes to policy."

Another remarked, "It was a horrible speech, it is embarrassing that a segment of the Bitcoin community embrace these right-wing grifters."

"He needs a cognitive test with a real doctor," one wrote.

Another echoed this sentiment, stating, "Folks with dementia tend to ramble on."

A critic said, "You should never have high expectations for Trump's speeches.

Another said, "Anyone who supports this man should be embarrassed."

One user pointed out, "He's always selling some kind of BS. He's lied so much about everything, don’t know how anyone can take him seriously."

Yet another emphasized, "He's old and low energy. He should retire to Florida."
