WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump speculated that Hunter Biden was "calling the shots" in his father, President Joe Biden's administration amid the octagenarian's adamancy to remain in the race.

Ending his more than a week-long absence from the public sphere after last month's presidential debate, the Republican presumptive nominee spoke on Fox News on Monday, July 8.

Speaking to Sean Hannity, Trump delved into discussions about his Democratic opponent's disastrous debate performance, as per Raw Story.

The June 27 debate hosted by CNN could be considered a success for the ex-president, who seemed energetic compared to President Biden, who fumbled several times, struggling to form sentences in his raspy voice.

Calls for the President to exit the race intensified among a group of Democrats who are concerned that the 81-year-old will be incapable of a second term if he wins in November.

"It looks to me like he may very well stay in, he has an ego and he does not want to quit, he does not want to do that, looks to me that's what he wants," Trump told Hannity.

"I think that [First Lady] Jill [Biden] would like to see him stay, she's having a good time, she seems to be having a really good time and I'm hearing that Hunter's calling the shots. This is not necessarily a very popular thing for the country, but I think he might very well stay in, and if he does, nobody wants to give it up that way," the real estate mogul continued.

The first son, who was recently found guilty on federal gun charges, has reportedly stepped into a more influential role in the White House along with the First Lady after the President's lackluster display on the debate stage.

Moreover, he also took part in White House meetings with President Biden after the family returned from Camp David earlier this month.

This move irked the Republicans, causing House Intelligence Committee chair Mike Turner to question the White House about whether Hunter was receiving classified documents.

Speaking to Hannity, Trump also weighed in on the heightened Democratic calls for the President to suspend his reelection bid.

"He will feel badly about himself for a long time," said the MAGA spearhead.

"It's hard to give it up that way, the way to try to force him out. Really have to speak to his doctors, obviously has been sheltered by the fake news media, that's why they call it fake news."

In his recent sit-down with ABC News' Geroge Stephanopoulos, the incumbent reiterated his decision to continue the race, claiming only the intervention of "Lord Almighty" could make him step away from competing against his predecessor.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's claims about Hunter Biden's role in current administration

Netizens called out Trump's "propaganda" as he speculated Hunter was "calling the shots" in his father's administration.

"Stop pushing propaganda," a user said.

"If this is the best he can come up with after having well over a week off, Dark Brandon should challenge another debate," another remarked.

"Yeah well... it's Donald Trump. He knows he can fool his base with his lies, but the bigger problem is that his base actually want to be fooled with his lies," added a third user.

"Yeah that statement doesn't reek of fear and desperation. Nope not at all," read a fourth response.

"Words from a liar shouldn’t be believable!!" another person wrote.

"Unlike Trump’s damn kids. Hunter has a life apart from his dad," someone else claimed.

"Well, that's good for a chuckle. He's running out of names to use," an individual chimed in.

"Nope he’s thinking of Jared Kushner when he was in the WH," another user said.
