WASHINGTON, DC: Jill and Hunter Biden have stepped into influential roles behind the scenes at the White House, advocating for President Joe Biden to get rid of staff they believe are not serving him well and encouraging him to remain the Democratic nominee.

Meanwhile, Valerie Biden Owens, the president's sister and long-time adviser, was also present at the White House for the Fourth of July celebrations, where she held meetings about her brother's re-election campaign.

Reports indicate that Biden has privately told allies he might consider withdrawing from the race. However, the White House has denied these claims, insisting that Biden is determined to win.

In response, Biden and his team are intensifying efforts to garner support from party members, lawmakers, governors, and donors, reassuring them of his ability to defeat Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

Influential trio: Jill, Hunter, and Valerie

The three most influential figures in President Biden's decision-making process regarding his future are his wife Jill, his son Hunter, and his sister Valerie. They hold significant sway and would need to approve any decision for him to exit the race. According to a report from NBC News, this trio is fervently protecting Biden's continued candidacy.

Jill Biden has been busy promoting the president's achievements, attending events in Pennsylvania and Michigan. Hunter Biden, on the other hand, has been seen closely accompanying his father, including during a Medal of Honor ceremony in the East Room and in meetings in the West Wing.

The entire Biden family gathered at the White House for the Fourth of July celebrations, their second family gathering in five days, following a weekend at Camp David for a photo shoot with photographer Annie Leibovitz.

At Camp David, the Biden family discussed the president's poor debate performance against Trump. Among the topics was the potential firing of senior White House adviser Anita Dunn and her husband, Bob Bauer, who is also Biden's personal lawyer.

The family was reportedly unhappy that Biden was overloaded with statistics during the debate instead of being allowed to showcase his natural empathy. Dunn and Bauer were involved in Biden's debate preparations, with Bauer playing the role of Trump in mock debates.

However, White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients denied any plans to dismiss them. "The president and first lady have full confidence in their team, including Anita and Bob," he told NBC News. "There is absolutely no truth to these unfounded and insulting rumors."

Valerie Biden Owens, 78, has been a pivotal figure in Joe Biden's political career, managing his first Senate campaign in 1972 and remaining deeply involved in all his subsequent campaigns.

She also played a significant role in the family, stepping in as a surrogate mother to Hunter and Beau after Biden’s first wife, Neilia Hunter Biden, and their 1-year-old daughter Naomi, were killed in a traffic accident in 1972. Valerie moved into her brother’s home to care for the boys while Biden commuted to Washington DC on Amtrak.

The Biden family has rallied together as the presidential race has intensified, and Hunter Biden has faced legal troubles. Hunter was found guilty of three felony counts related to federal gun charges.

Jill Biden and Valerie Biden Owens have shown their unwavering support, attending nearly every court session. The family believes Hunter is being prosecuted because of his father's position as president, a sentiment echoed by some Republicans who questioned the charges against him.

During their discussions at Camp David, Jill Biden pointed to the attacks on Hunter to emphasize the importance of continuing the fight. She highlighted the family's struggles since Biden decided to run for president and argued that now was the time to persevere.

The Bidens are particularly resolute in their stance, with Jill Biden remembering how Joe Biden was forced out of the 1988 presidential race due to a plagiarism scandal.

Michael LaRosa, Jill Biden's former press secretary, explained to the New York Times, "In 1987, she saw him be forced out by the press, pundits, and polls, and it was really a scarring experience for both of them." He added, "I think they learned from that experience and they weren't going to have their hands forced like they were in 1987."

Bidens excoriated on social media

However, the Bidens were widely slammed on social media after it emerged how Jill, Hunter, and Valerie were circling the wagons to ensure Joe stays put in the race.

"Rather than do what is right for the U.S., Jill & Hunter are dragging addled Joe along. Now, ask yourself why," one posted on X.

"When the whole damn family relies on Joe for their livelihoods, they are good with a weekend at Bernie’s situation regardless of the effects on the country," another chimed in.

"The family that doesn’t want to give up power regardless of the old man being a zombie that could easily start WW3. Dangerous people," someone else commented.

"I don’t get where governmental protection services aren’t investigating this. This is elder abuse. Joe needs serious medical attention," another fumed.
