WASHINGTON, DC: The Biden family has been under scrutiny lately as Hunter Biden's involvement in advising his father, President Joe Biden, is raising eyebrows.

The concern comes after Hunter Biden was convicted on three felony charges relating to a handgun purchase in 2018.

The president's family has been huddled around him with Hunter Biden emerging as a key advisor, according to a report from the New York Times.

Now an executive director of the Oversight Project at the Heritage Foundation, Mike Howell has chipped in raising concerns for all Americans about Hunter Biden.

"All Americans should be highly concerned that at a time where international tensions are on the rise, particularly with the CCP, the Biden family bag man is now in the White House," Howell told Fox News on Thursday, July 4.

"Given that this administration appears to be on its last legs, I fear that a lot of requested favors from foreigners that have leverage over Biden are being considered while he still has power," Howell said.

Hunter Biden was convicted last month on three felony charges relating to a handgun purchase in 2018.

"When [President Biden] talks about a convicted felon — his son is a convicted felon," Trump said during the debate.

"At a very high level, his son is convicted, gonna be convicted probably numerous other times, should have been convicted before," he added.

Hunter Biden's role in encouraging President Joe Biden to stay in the race

Hunter Biden was one of the strongest voices in imploring his father to stay in the presidential race during a family huddle at Camp David on Sunday, June 30, the New York Times reported.

The president’s son was joined by First Lady Jill Biden in encouraging him to see things through to November, the report noted, while other family members such as a grandchild have expressed interest in trying to do more to help the campaign with the grandchild suggesting they could reach out to influencers on social media.

"Hunter Biden wants Americans to see the version of his father that he knows — scrappy and in command of the facts — rather than the stumbling, aging president Americans saw on Thursday night," the publication reported.

Internet reacts to Hunter Biden's involvement in President Joe Biden's campaign

Internet reactions have been pouring in, with one user writing, "Hunter like the renowned Dr. Jill is there gatekeeping."

Another user wrote, "Especially after they left, spent all this time gaslighting Trump supporters for supporting a convicted felon now Joe Biden will have a convicted felon advising his campaign. Make it make sense."

One more user wrote, "They can’t help themselves. Obidens plan has failed." Another user wrote, "why? trump's an actual 34x convicted felon and a rapist, why would it matter for hunter to be involved with genocide Joe's campaign?"

One user also wrote, "Hunter shouldn't have the clearance to sit in some of those meetings," wrote one more.

"Our country is in such despair!!!!" wrote another. "Hunter's there to stay close to Dad, keep anybody away from him that would convince Joe to drop out. In order for the Bidens to peddle influence, for Joe to keep any immunity related to foreign transactions as a citizen, he has to still be a candidate. They're desperate," wrote another.
