WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden's family is urging him to stay in the presidential race even after his abysmal performance in the first 2024 presidential debate against Donald Trump, sources reportedly shared with The New York Times on Sunday, June 30.

The President went to Camp David with his wife, children, and grandchildren to figure out a way forward for his campaign. Some of them privately voiced their exasperation at how Biden was prepared by his staff for the debate, which took place on Thursday, June 27, at the CNN studio in Atlanta.

Biden's performance at the debate shocked the Democratic Party and his supporters, with many calling for him to drop out in the aftermath. He has been soliciting ideas from advisers about the best way to proceed.

Hunter Biden wants his father to stay in the race

An internal source shared that Hunter Biden's voice was among the strongest in imploring father Joe Biden to keep fighting for his reelection. The President had long leaned on his son for support, and the latter wanted Americans to see the version of his father that he knows- determined and in command of the facts, rather than the picture of aging and bumbling that they witnessed on debate night.

Other members of the First Family reportedly tried to figure out ways in which they could be helpful. At least one of Biden's grandchildren has expressed interest in getting more involved with the campaign and having conversations with social media influencers.

In all, it was the opinion of the entire family that Biden remains capable of showing the country that he could serve as the President for the next four years.

Contradicting reports on Joe Biden's presidential race

Former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly shared a sharply contradicting claim over social media on Sunday, stating that the President has already decided to end his run for the upcoming general election.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), O'Reilly wrote, "Here's a Biden update from http://BillOReilly.com news headquarters. The decision has been made that the President will quit the campaign. Two reasons: Democrat internal polling says he cannot recover from the debate, and fundraising is drying up."

"So, it's over for Joe. But the White House doesn't yet know how or when to make the announcement. Stay close," he added in a follow-up tweet.

However, netizens have cast doubt over O'Reilly's post as the following tweets in response demonstrate.

"This is either going to turn out to be amazing reporting or absolutely terrible," wrote a person.

"I’ll believe it when Jill says it," stated another.

"Come on Bill. Cite some sources," chided a third.

"Either Bill O'Reilly will look like a joke or Fox may ask for him to come back," quipped a fourth.

"Pure speculation Bill. You have no source," jibed a fifth.
