Biden campaign sets sights on flipping Donald Trump's Florida in 2024 election, Internet says 'no chance'

In addition to targeting Florida, the Biden campaign strategically focused on flipping North Carolina, a state won by Trump in the 2020 election

WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden's re-election campaign announced that it will target to flip former President Donald Trump's home state, Florida, in the upcoming presidential election, The Hill reported.

In a memo released on Monday, April 1, campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said investing in the Sunshine State is integral to the Biden campaign's strategy to reach 270 electoral votes.

"Make no mistake: Florida is not an easy state to win, but it is a winnable one for President Biden, especially given Trump's weak, cash-strapped campaign, and serious vulnerabilities within his coalition," Rodriguez said.

The GOP presumptive nominee won Florida in the 2020 election with a three-point lead against Biden. Trump secured 51 percent of votes while his successor stood at 48 percent.

Biden campaign to focus on Latino outreach and abortion

Rodriguez remarked that the incumbent's re-election campaign hired three operatives to handle the campaign in Florida, and the state was part of $25 million spring ad and $30 million fall ad buys.

She further indicated that the large Cuban, Venezuelan, and Puerto Rican population is the focus of the Biden campaign to increase the Latino outreach.

According to her, Florida is "a state where President Biden has a compelling story of results, Trump and Rick Scott's extreme agenda is making Floridians' lives worse, and the Democratic coalition is growing and energized."

Another focal point of Biden campaign in Trump's home state is abortion. The State Supreme Court on Monday, April 1, ruled to implement a six-week abortion ban effective from May 1.

In light of their better-than-expected performance in the 2022 mid-term election as a result of the overturning of Roe v Wade, Democrats consider that stricter abortion access in Florida will favor them.

"This new, extreme abortion ban – one that Donald Trump personally paved the way for – will now amount to a ban for the entire Southeast. Women in need of reproductive care throughout the region now face a choice between putting their lives at risk or traveling hundreds or thousands of miles to get care," Rodriguez said in the memo.

She labeled the Republican-dominated state "Ground Zero for Trump's MAGA Blueprint," noting the banning of books in the state and easy access to guns in comparison to other states and the rising housing costs and poor insurance access.

Besides Florida, the Biden campaign is working to flip North Carolina, which Trump narrowly won in 2020.

Internet reacts

Netizens unanimously said there was no chance Biden could defeat Trump in Florida in the 2024 presidential contest.

One user shared a GIF with the caption, "Zero chance."

"Lmao, Biden has no chance of flipping Florida..." another person said.

A third user added, "So you doing what you did in to NYC you think you are going to win Florida people are leaving NYC for Florida."

"That is highly unlikely… His biggest concerns should be Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, New Mexico, and Georgia. There’s a chance he will lose one or more of those," someone else remarked.

A individual outrightly stated, "That will never happen," and another response read, "Literally zero chance. Funny attempt though. The best part is Biden's home is voting red this time around."

"Let’s hope they spend billions trying because there’s no way Floridians want Joe Biden. They were getting out of those blue states plus Florida runs too well. It’s a state that works unlike most of the blue states," someone else chimed in.

Another user added, "No way they will never flip Florida, but I hope they spend $1 billion trying lol."
