WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden found himself in the crosshairs of criticism following a recent White House event where he delivered a speech about his 'Investing in America' agenda but notably ignored questions from the press.

The incident, which took place on Tuesday, September 3, quickly became a topic of heated discussion online, as reported by Fox News.

Biden's speech, which marked one of his rare public appearances since delegating much of his campaign duties to Vice President Kamala Harris, highlighted the administration's perceived successes.

"COVID no longer controls our lives. We’ve gone from economic crisis to the strongest economy in the world, literally," Biden declared.

He went on to cite "record 16 million new jobs, record small business growth, record stock market, record high 401(k)s, wages are up, inflation is down, way down and continuing to come down, and the smallest racial wealth gap in 20 years."

His message aimed to reassure the public of the administration's progress, particularly in the face of ongoing economic challenges. However, the moment that sparked widespread attention came immediately after his speech.

As Biden concluded his remarks with the customary "May God protect our troops," reporters began shouting questions, hoping for answers on a range of pressing issues.

Topics such as the Israel-Hamas war, the potential for free IVF treatment, and rising grocery prices were among the questions hurled at the president.

Instead of addressing these concerns, Biden remained silent, smiling as he slowly gathered his belongings before being escorted out of the room by his staff.

The reaction from political opponents was swift. The Trump War Room account, affiliated with former president Donald Trump, was quick to criticize Biden's behavior.

"Crooked Joe Biden — completely cooked — spends a full minute ignoring questions as his handlers desperately attempt to remove them from the room," the account tweeted. They added a stark warning: "Warning: This is painful to watch."

The New York Times also weighed in on the matter, drawing attention to what they perceive as a troubling pattern in Biden's presidency. In a public statement issued in April, The Times directly criticized Biden's reluctance to engage with the press.

"For anyone who understands the role of the free press in a democracy, it should be troubling that President Biden has so actively and effectively avoided questions from independent journalists during his term," the statement read.

Unsurprisingly, the incident quickly became a hot topic on social media, where users expressed opinions critical of President Joe Biden.

On X, one person remarked, "That man is cooked!"

Another said, "This is so Embarrassing, very painful to watch. We have never looked weaker as a nation."

"At this point, the grave may crawl to him," said one person.

Another stated, "An utter disgrace…and precisely no one will be held to account for covering up his mental decline for years."

One individual wrote, "This man should be in a nursing home. He is barely functional."

Another pointed out, "The man can barely move."

One netizen remarked, "@WhiteHouse this a national embarrassment. A totally impotent, useless administration."

Another added, "Just go back to bed, grandpa."
