LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Former President Donald Trump remarked during a June 2024 event in Las Vegas, "I don't care about you, I just want your vote. I don't care."

Viral video footage of the 77-year-old MAGA strongman’s comments circulating online mostly lacked context that indicated he was joking, per Snopes.

On the campaign trail, a video clip of the former president went viral on June 9, 2024.

In the video, Trump was reportedly heard telling the Las Vegas crowd, "I don't care about you, I just want your vote. I don't care."



 

The video posted on X garnered millions of views cumulatively.

It is important to note that the video clip going viral is authentic, signifying that it was neither AI-generated nor digitally tampered with.

Former President Trump delivered the statement during a Las Vegas campaign rally, during which he spoke for approximately one hour.



 

Contrarily, the duration of the video clip was only 15 seconds.

The video sparked a furious backlash from several Trump supporters on X, who said it took the phrase out of context.

What was the context behind Donald Trump saying ‘I don't care about you, I just want your vote’?

The context which is lacking in the viral video is that during the course of the speech, former President Donald Trump made repeated references to the extremely high temperatures in Las Vegas on June 9, which surpassed 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Going by the video of the rally on C-SPAN, the quote in question begins at minute 49:03.



 

At one point, the ex-POTUS mentioned that the Secret Service had expressed apprehension about the audience's safety in view of the gruelling temperatures.

The 2024 presumptive Republican presidential nominee quipped about his wish for the crowd to stay, remarking that he was indifferent to their well-being, and only valued their vote.

This comment from Trump drew laughter from the audience.

The full quote is as follows:

“And by the way, isn't that breeze nice? Do you feel the breeze? Cause I don't want anybody going on me, we need every voter. I don't care about you, I just want your vote. I don't care. See now the press will take that, they'll say he said a horrible thing.”
