WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump's felony convictions for business fraud could have repercussions beyond his freedom, as the valuable liquor licenses at his luxury golf courses are now under scrutiny.

Following his conviction on 34 felony counts connected to hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, Trump is facing the possibility of travel restrictions and the loss of his right to own firearms due to his criminal record.

New Jersey law prohibits issuing a liquor license to crime convicts

Trump is the exclusive owner of three golf courses in New Jersey, each holding active liquor licenses, as per the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Trump National Golf Club, Bedminster, Trump National Golf Club Philadelphia and Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck are his signature golf clubs.

Now "New Jersey is reviewing whether Donald Trump’s recent convictions will impact his liquor licenses," a spokesperson for the state attorney general’s office told Forbes.

It reports, "New Jersey law prohibits issuing a liquor license to anyone who has been convicted of a crime “involving moral turpitude."'

A state handbook explains that those sorts of crimes typically involve “dishonesty, fraud or depravity” severe enough to typically be punishable by more than a year in prison, the publication stated.

Donald Trump's liquor licenses come under scrutiny in New York, Virginia, Illinois and North Carolina

The other states where Trump could face trouble include New York, Virginia, Illinois, and North Carolina.

However, the authorities told the publication, "Trump is not a current licensee in their states."

But when the publication pointed out that Trump, "through a series of entities" is the "sole owner of nine businesses" with liquor licenses in those locations, "some representatives said they would look into the matter further," reported the publication.

Some, however, did not respond to the publication inquiry.

Donald Trump may get around easily for Los Angeles, Florida, and Las Vegas

For Trump National Golf Club outside of Los Angeles, authorities said since Trump entered the White House, he transferred his liquor licenses to his son Donald Trump Jr.

"Even though the elder still owns the club, he is no longer considered part of the license," the spokesperson told the publication.

In Florida, where Trump has five properties that hold liquor licenses, his conviction appears to violate a moral-character rule, but the law there "seems to have easy workarounds."

In Las Vegas, Nevada where Trump co-owns a hotel with real-estate mogul Phil Ruffin, evidence is required applicants are “of good moral character.”

But the grounds for disciplinary action in Clark County, home to Trump’s hotel, do not include felony convictions.

Internet reactions about the possibility of Donald Trump losing liquor licenses

The internet has mocked Donald Trump with arguments about him losing his liquor license after his conviction.

"LOOKS LIKE IT'S GONNA BE coke FROM HERE ON OUT, SON!" joked a user on X.

"He should lose them. No other convicted felon can have liquor licenses," suggested one.

"If he doesn't get jail he should get everything else that comes with an unrepentant criminal..." lashed one. "Too bad, so sad Donald," wrote another.

"He will just transfer clubs into Don Jr name or something like that," predicted one. "Looking forward to his drug test results...lol," trolled one more.
