LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bill Maher, during the recent episode of 'Real Time with Bill Maher', yet again took a jab at his fellow liberal comedian Larry David, describing David's satirical New York Times op-ed, "My Dinner with Adolf," as "dumb" and "unhelpful."

The strong reaction from the HBO host came in response to the 'Seinfeld' co-creator's column that humorously mocked Maher's dinner with President Donald Trump.

Bill Maher defends Trump meeting, says he's not Hitler

During a segment discussing the extreme elements within both the Democratic and Republican parties, Bill Maher focused his criticism on the reaction to his March dinner with Donald Trump.

He said that it was illogical to fully close down communications with some persons, including the president, and referred to the "no contact" approach as "so childish, so purely emotional."

Maher then moved to address those who had criticized him for meeting the president. He stated, "The people who got all bu**hurt because I had dinner with Trump, you know, because he's Hitler. Except he's not. So unhelpful and dumb."

Meanwhile, a screen graphic with the headline "Larry David: My Dinner With Adolf" appeared in the background as he spoke. Maher went on to argue that Trump has been "the most supportive president of Israel and the Jews ever had."

Bill Maher uses Larry David's old self-criticism to mock his view

Bill Maher then took his criticism one step further by personally attacking Larry David. "You know, every year I used to ask Larry David to do ‘Real Time,' and he'd always say, 'Bill, I can't. I'm not smart enough about politics to do your show.' Yeah, I get that now," Maher joked.

He then dismissed the underlying critique by arguing, "Because there is no argument here. There's just the sugar rush that the no contact people get from never coming in second in an ‘I hate Trump the most' contest.”

Maher concluded this line of reasoning by wondering how effective the left's strategy could be, asking whether it was smart to "go full high school" and "tell the guy with all the power he can't sit with you at the lunch table."

Bill Maher's previous remarks on Larry David's satirical piece

This was not the first time Bill Maher publicly addressed Larry David's satirical piece. In April, during an appearance on the 'Piers Morgan Uncensored' podcast, Maher was asked about the column roasting his positive exchange with Trump.

Speaking of David, Maher said at the time: "This wasn't, you know, my favorite moment of our friendship." The late-night host repeated his fundamental objection to the comparison, telling host Piers Morgan, "But I think the minute you play the Hitler card, you've lost the argument."
