Bill Maher slams Hollywood liberals for ignoring Charlie Kirk’s death at Emmys: 'Bias is clear'

WASHINGTON, DC: Bill Maher took aim at Hollywood stars for staying silent during the recent Emmy Awards about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The comedian said it was troubling that no mention was made of Kirk’s death, despite celebrities often using the stage for political causes.
Bill Maher is right — the Emmy’s had no interest in memorializing Charlie Kirk because he’s on the wrong team, and they don’t tolerate anyone on the wrong team

Bill Maher criticizes Emmy Awards for ignoring Charlie Kirk killing
On Friday’s 'Real Time with Bill Maher', the host raised the issue during a panel discussion with Alex Wagner and Senator Joe Manchin.
He argued that the left has developed what he called a “bad attitude” about refusing to acknowledge tragedies involving political opponents.
"The left does have this bad attitude of go no contact,” Maher said.

"I mean, at the Emmys, would it have killed someone to get up there, since they all want to talk about their politics, to just say, ‘We had a political killing this week. And that’s wrong.’ They would have been booed off the stage because he was on the wrong team. So you’re not even allowed to say that," he added.
Bill Maher says response differed if left-wing activist was targeted
Maher continued by asking his audience to imagine the reaction if a progressive had been killed in the same week. “Could you imagine if a left-wing person was killed that week? The whole show would have been about that,” said Maher.

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, which aired Sunday, made no reference to Kirk’s death. Turning Point USA co-founder Kirk was shot and killed just days earlier.
Host Nate Bargatze later explained his approach. “I know there’s heartbreaking stuff that’s been happening right now, but I want this night to be an escape, and I think that’s why I was brought on,” Bargatze told Entertainment Weekly.
Charlie Kirk killing raised as threat to democracy
Maher pressed Wagner directly during the exchange. “Is that not true? Can’t you admit that?” Maher asked.
Wagner responded by pointing to the broader implications. “I think this needs — the Charlie Kirk killing needs to be reframed as an issue of how our democracy actually functions and survives,” said Wagner.

She added, “We cannot be killing people who are different from us, who believe different things. Full stop. Charlie Kirk’s death was as bad for Democrats as it was for Republicans.”
Maher agreed, noting, “And him, as a human. As a human!"
