Billie Eilish urges to vote out anyone who’s 'not willing to reform gun policy' after mass shootings

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A wave of shock gripped the world following a series of horrendous attacks over the weekend. 

A deadly incident took place at Brown University. Soon after, gunfire was reported at Bondi Beach in Australia. Another shooting then occurred at Cypress Hill in Brooklyn.

Amid the growing grief, pop star Billie Eilish decided to speak out. The Grammy-winning artist shared her reaction on Instagram, writing, "This is so devastating. My heart goes out to all of the victims & their loved ones."

She also called on her followers to speak up and urged people not to vote for anyone who is "not willing to reform gun policy."

Billie Eilish urges action on gun reform after multiple mass shootings

The 23-year-old 'Birds of a Feather' singer shared a message on Instagram on Sunday, December 14. She reflected on the timing of the recent violence while marking a painful anniversary.

Eilish wrote, "Today is the anniversary of the massacre at sandy hook elementary, & we woke up to the news of mass shootings in Australia, at brown university, & in Brooklyn."

Expressing her heartbreak, she added, "This is so devastating. My heart goes out to all of the victims & their loved ones. raise your voice, work for change, & vote out anyone who's not willing to reform gun policy."

The mass shooting at Brown University unfolded while students were in the middle of an exam. Providence police have shared limited details about the shooter.

Authorities said the suspect is male, believed to be in his 30s, and was dressed in all black or dark clothing. Brown University’s Department of Public Safety issued a campus-wide alert at 4.22 pm Saturday. Mayor Brett Smiley said that the gunman entered from the back of the hall.  

Two people were killed and nine others were wounded in the shooting. 

Bondi Beach massacre



A shooting at a Hanukkah celebration at Australia’s Bondi Beach left at least 15 people dead. Police recovered six firearms from the scene. Authorities said a father and son, Sajid Akram, 50, and Naveed Akram, 24, allegedly opened fire shortly before 7 pm on Sunday.

Sajid was shot dead by police, while Naveed was critically injured and remains hospitalized. 

Brooklyn mass shooting



Two gunmen opened fire early Sunday morning in Brooklyn, leaving six teenagers injured. Police say the suspects are still being searched for. The incident happened around 1.16 am outside Burbuja Events on Atlantic Avenue in the Cypress Hills neighborhood.

Officers from the 75th Precinct responded after several 911 calls reported people had been shot. They found six teens, ages 15 to 17, suffering from gunshot wounds.
