Trump says he has 'great respect' for Australian man who tackled a Bondi Beach shooter

Donald Trump praised the Australian man for his extraordinary courage, saying he saved many lives by confronting the attacker head-on. "In Australia, you probably read it. It's been. It's been a very, very brave person, actually, who went and attacked frontally, one of the shooters," the commander-in-chief said.

"And saved a lot of lives. So very brave person, who's right now in the hospital? Pretty seriously wounded. So, I have great respect for that," he added.

Speaking publicly after deadly violence across three countries, Trump offered condolences and described the situation as “a rough day” for the United States and its allies. He referenced the shooting at Brown University, the antisemitic attack in Australia, and the deaths of US personnel in Syria in an apparent ISIS attack.

Not just Trump, other world leaders have also praised Ahmed Al Ahmed for his bravery. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the man as "brave" in a statement regarding the shooting. "We saw an action of a brave man - turns out a Muslim brave man, and I salute him - that stopped one of these te**orists from killing innocent Jews," Netanyahu said.
