Boebert dismisses 'abuse' claims, calls Trump insults part of ‘DC culture’
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Lauren Boebert is brushing aside President Donald Trump’s recent public insults and threats to back a challenger against her, insisting that aggressive political tactics are simply part of life in Washington.
During a tense interview with Next 9NEWS's Kyle Clark that aired Thursday, May 28, Lauren Boebert rejected the idea that Trump’s remarks amounted to “abuse,” even after the president mocked her intelligence and questioned her political judgment over her support for Rep Thomas Massie.

Boebert says Trump rhetoric is 'DC culture'
Speaking with Kyle Clark, Boebert was repeatedly pressed on why she continues to support Trump despite becoming one of the latest Republicans publicly targeted by him.
Clark pointed to Trump’s recent comments attacking Boebert after she appeared alongside Massie, one of the few Republicans who has openly clashed with Trump on several issues.
“President Trump never just disagrees with people,” Clark told her. “He has to disagree and insult people.” Clark then referenced Trump calling Boebert “weak-minded” and “dumb” in a Truth Social post earlier this month.
“If one of my friends called me dumb, that would bother me,” Clark said. “Did it bother you?” Boebert initially tried to soften the wording.
“Well, I think it was low IQ,” she responded before Clark interrupted to note Trump had explicitly used the word “dumb.” “Did he use dumb?” Boebert asked.
Clark replied, “He said weak-minded and dumb.” Rather than expressing anger, Boebert laughed off the criticism.
“He could have thrown in there that I only have a GED and that would have been okay and completely factual,” she said, while adding that her support for Trump remains unchanged.
The interview became sharper when Clark asked why Republican lawmakers continue tolerating Trump’s personal attacks.
“Why are you and other Republicans willing to take so much abuse from him?” he asked. Boebert rejected the claim.
“Interesting, I don’t see it as abuse,” she responded. “I think it’s part of the D.C. nature. Nothing happens in D.C. without force.”
Trump's deepening rift with Boebert
The friction between Trump and Boebert erupted after the congresswoman publicly campaigned with Massie, the Kentucky Republican who has increasingly found himself at odds with Trump and parts of the MAGA movement.
Trump reacted furiously on Truth Social, openly floating the idea of backing a primary challenger against Boebert, despite having previously endorsed her.
“Is anyone interested in running against Weak Minded Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District?” Trump wrote.
Word is that Rand Paul and Lauren Boebert, two very difficult, and highly unreasonable, Republican Votes, are right now in the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky, which I won by 31 points, parading around like fools for the Worst “Republican” Congressman in the History of our Party!… pic.twitter.com/Xbfr5fkMSf

The president also suggested he would gladly abandon his support for her if another candidate emerged.
“Even though I long ago endorsed Boebert, if the right person came along, it would be my Honor to withdraw that Endorsement,” Trump said.
Trump further attacked Boebert for aligning herself with Massie, whom he described as “the Worst ‘Republican’ Congressman in the History of our Country.”
