WASHINGTON, DC: Barack Obama reportedly distanced himself from the Democratic Party after completing his two consecutive terms at the White House, claims a new book.

The new book, titled ‘Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House’, was released on Tuesday, April 1, and documented the former president’s waning relationship with the Democrats following his departure from the White House.

The book, authored by political journalists Jonathan Allen of NBC News and Amie Parnes of The Hill, claimed that Obama was never a Democratic Party loyalist, and he allegedly curried favors from “Black professionals” instead.

Barack Obama’s relationship with Democrats soured over time, claims book

Through the book ‘Fight’, the authors claim that Barack Obama sought to distance himself from the Democratic Party following his term end. However, even before that, the Nobel Peace Prize winner was apparently never a Democratic Party loyalist himself.

The book rather claimed that he came to obtain the ticket to the highest power of the land through the support from a group of "Black professionals" for his campaigns. As reported by Fox News, the authors pointed out that it was unlike the other Democrats, including former presidents Joe Biden and Bill Clinton, along with former Secretary of State and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Moreover, the book claimed that Obama’s nonprofit Organizing for Action — created in 2012 — further drew a chasm through the Democratic Party by competing for power and money.

"Though Organizing for Action never realized his vision, it competed with the party for power and money," claimed the book.

"He left the Democratic Party far weaker than he found it,” noted the authors, before quoting an insider, writing, “Or, as one Black party operative put it, ‘Obama destroyed that s**t'."

With Obama’s departure from the White House, several Democratic party leaders like the Clintons, Biden and former Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile, along with the help from a few more members of the top brass, attempted to “rebuild the party infrastructure".

The authors shared that the restructuring meant preventing the far-left liberals from seizing control of the party after Obama’s presidency.

"By helping install party loyalists at the national and state committees over the course of years, these establishment Democrats kept progressive outsiders at bay. ‘You know who did that?’ said one Black Biden ally familiar with the maneuvering. ‘Bill and Hillary motherf**ing Clinton,’" shared the book.

Barack Obama was hesitant to support Kamala Harris in 2024 presidential race

The book further described how Barack Obama was hesitant to support Kamala Harris in her electoral bid against President Donald Trump during the 2024 election. As reported by Fox News, the book claimed that Obama did not believe that Harris had the capacity to beat Trump.

Nevertheless, he endorsed Harris five days after former president Joe Biden stepped down from the race. The authors wrote that the delay caused a rift between Harris and Obama, and later required some “mending”.

However, appearing on 'Morning Joe' recently, the book’s co-author Jonathan Allen revealed that Obama not only had doubts but he was also actively working against the former VP.

Appearing on the talk show, Allen shared, “President Obama absolutely did not think that Joe Biden should continue, according to our sources close to President Obama. And he also didn’t want Kamala Harris to be the replacement for Biden.”

“He didn’t think that she was the best choice for Democrats, and he worked really behind the scenes for a long time to try to have a mini-primary, or an open convention, or a mini-primary leading to an open convention. [He] did not have faith in her ability to win the election,” Allen continued, noting, “He was really working against her.”
