Braden Davis: GoFundMe launched for boy, 15, who died days after being struck by car on his way to school
ATLANTA, GEORGIA: A teenager tragically lost his life after he was struck by a vehicle on his way to school. The victim, who has been identified as 15-year-old Braden Davis, breathed his last on Friday, March 29, at the hospital, Fox-affiliate WAGA reports.
Davis' death came nine days after he met with the accident near South Cobb High School, the Cobb County Police Department said in a Facebook release. According to the authorities, the driver was crossing the roadway at a green light around 8.42 am local time when Braden stepped in front of the car’s path.
The Cobb County School District previously told WAGA that the victim was a student who was hit while walking to school.
Braden Davis was an organ donor
Braden, who would have celebrated his 16th birthday on Friday, April 5, was an organ donor. The victim's mother now believes that he will now help at least 70 people. "We went into the operating room when they did everything, and we talked to him until his heart stopped beating," Davis' mother Emily Little said, adding "We told him how much we loved him and how proud we were of him."
"We rubbed his face and held him tight and did everything that we could," Little told the outlet, adding "He donated [his] heart, kidneys, liver, lots of tissue, [and] bones. He gave sight to two different people."
The devastated mother added that in four to six weeks, the family will know more about who his organs helped and will have the option to write back and forth with the families. "I will get how old they are, male or female, some of their interests and hobbies," Little said.
A GoFundMe has been launched after Braden Davis' death
A GoFundMe fundraiser launched by Little said the family finds "great solace in knowing that he was able to save and improve the lives of so many people through his generous gift of organ and tissue donation, and that the ripples of his good act will continue for many many years to come." The money spent on the fundraiser will go toward "family expenses."
"Braden was such a fun spirited and adventurous kid, please keep him in your thoughts when you go on outdoor adventures this summer, and know that because of him others will adventure on," the tribute read, adding "His father and I will forever be proud of him."
