Brian Hooker’s lawyer rejects abuse claims amid Lynette’s disappearance: ‘Absolutely no evidence’
FREEPORT, BAHAMAS: Brian Hooker has hired a US lawyer to fight back against "baseless" claims of domestic violence following his wife Lynette Hooker’s disappearance in the Bahamas.
While Lynette Hooker’s family members have suggested the incident was "preplanned," Brian Hooker’s legal team insists there is "absolutely no evidence" to support allegations of prior abuse.
Brian Hooker hires lawyer, denies domestic abuse claims
Attorney Crystal Marie Hauser is defending Brian Hooker against claims made by the mother and daughter of his missing wife, Lynette.
As the investigation remains open, Hauser addressed the rumors of domestic instability directly, stating, "Be open-minded to the fact that just because Karli and Darlene are making these claims, there's absolutely no evidence to support any of the allegations, absolutely none."
Hauser noted that while Brian is currently in Michigan to tend to his "very ill" mother, she imagines his "heart" is still in the Bahamas.
Hauser further said, "I would ask those watching to treat him the way you would want to be treated, to give him the benefit of the doubt, and to consider that not all of us, nor you, considering your own relationships, the way you speak to one another, we all handle things in different ways."
Lynette Hooker’s family suspects ‘preplanned’ disappearance
The legal defense follows heavy skepticism from Lynette’s daughter, Karli Aylesworth, who flew to the islands to assist police.
After a three-hour interview with investigators, Aylesworth cast doubt on the accidental nature of the event, stating, "I feel like this was probably preplanned, if anything, like, it doesn’t seem like just some accident."
Brian told authorities that Lynette fell off their dinghy near Hope Town around 7:30 pm on April 4, taking the ignition key with her. He reportedly spent eight hours paddling to shore, arriving at a marina at 4 a.m., describing himself as "heartbroken."
In a Facebook post, he wrote, "I am heartbroken over the recent boat accident in unpredictable seas and high winds that caused my beloved Lynette to fall from our small dinghy near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas. Despite desperate attempts to reach her, the winds and currents drove us further apart. We continue to search for her and that is my sole focus."
Investigation remains open after Brian Hooker's release
To navigate the complex situation, Brian has retained Hauser and sought expert counsel.
Meanwhile, criminal defense attorney Donna Rotunno, while speaking to Fox News Digital, addressed the importance of this move, stating, "I think it makes sense for him to hire one regardless, body not found, nothing solved… Smart to hire a lawyer in the state."
Though Brian was briefly detained, Bahamian officials declined to charge him at the time of his release.
