WASHINGTON, DC: At the National Peace Officers Memorial Service at the Capitol on Wednesday, May 15, President Joe Biden narrowly avoided a nasty spill when he walked on a step, according to the New York Post.

Notably, without any further mishap, he made it to the microphone and then paid tribute to law enforcement personnel who had lost their lives while performing their duties.

The narrow escape on the stairs occurred only hours after Biden issued a bold appeal to former President Donald Trump, his opponent, to debate him.

Notably, by afternoon, the presumed Democratic and Republican contenders had committed to face-offs on September 10 and June 27, respectively, with CNN and ABC News serving as the hosts.

During his speech, Biden said to the police officers in attendance that Americans 'owe you as a nation'. He said, "Police officer is not just what you do. It’s who you are."

In the presidential race on November 5, age has been a major factor. After a second four-year tenure, Biden would be 86 years old, making him the oldest commander-in-chief in US history. If Trump prevails in the rematch and completes a full term in office, he will overtake Biden as the oldest president.

Notably, Biden has occasionally made light of his old age while admitting that it is a valid problem. His supporters and assistants have insisted that he is still as intelligent and active as ever.

However, voters would be alarmed by many instances in which Biden appeared to have trouble maintaining his balance, such as his several trips and falls on Air Force One's stairs and his severe fall on the Air Force Academy's graduation platform in June 2023.

Internet takes jibes at Joe Biden as he trips and barely avoids nasty fall

Several internet users trolled Joe Biden as he narrowly avoided a nasty spill when he walked on a step at the National Peace Officers Memorial Service at the Capitol.

A user wrote on X, "Please, God, bring a leader who can walk," while one added, "Maybe if he'd stop lying every time he does these speeches he wouldn't be getting an a*s kick from God."

A person also stated, "Just bring back Trump and end this nonsense," whereas one mentioned, "Why does his wife not tell him it’s time to resign? It’s too much on him."

A user also said, "Because he is not wearing his special tennis shoes!!" while one wrote, "Too prideful to use his cane."
