Bruce Springsteen’s rep shuts down ‘absurd’ Chris Christie fallout rumors after viral concert clip
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK: After a viral video from Bruce Springsteen’s Brooklyn concert sent the internet into full speculation mode, the singer’s representative is finally setting the record straight. The clip showed Springsteen seemingly walking past former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, with many online calling it a snub.
But Jon Landau has now cleared the air. Springsteen’s rep called the rumors about a fallout between the two "absurd" and made it clear that Christie was actually there as a guest. His statement basically shut down all the social media theories about tension or a supposed crack in their friendship.
The buzz gained momentum because the two New Jersey natives have had political disagreements for years. Christie has been to more than 150 shows by Springsteen and has long been a fan, even though they don’t agree politically.
Springsteen's rep shuts down rumour about Chris Christie 'snub'
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Jon Landau said, “Current stories claiming a break in the friendship between Bruce and Chris Christie are absurd. We’ve all been friends for years. Chris was attending his 180th show, standing at the side of the stage as our guest. And we hope to see him at our next 180 shows, as our guest. Period.”
While the moment may have looked icy on camera, Landau made it pretty clear there’s no behind-the-scenes fallout. He even doubled down on their longtime bond, saying, “We’ve all been friends for years.”
The chatter exploded partly because Springsteen and Christie have famously landed on opposite sides of the political spectrum over the years. But according to Landau, one missed high-five isn’t enough to spark the feud social media was hoping for.
Springsteen has also criticized Christie in the past, including over his budget decisions and the Bridgegate controversy, as per The Independent. Now the episode has amplified debates about celebrity-political figure interactions based on past complications.
It is worth noting that Springsteen did not address it himself. His representative stepped in instead and cleared up the speculation around any supposed conflict.

During the encore at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Thursday night, May 14, Springsteen was making his way through the crowd, high-fiving fans on his 'Land of Hope and Dreams' tour.
Things got a bit awkward when he appeared to move past the former New Jersey governor. A video shot by Mike Ryan shows Christie going in for a handshake, but Springsteen walking right by him, leaving Christie clapping mid-moment as he waited for the high-five.
The incident happened during the show and quickly blew up online, with fans debating whether it was a deliberate 'snub' or just a missed moment in a crowded.
