Caleb Harris: Authorities search for Texas student who vanished after taking his dog out for a walk
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: Authorities are still looking out for a Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi student who disappeared under mysterious circumstances earlier this week. Texas student Caleb Harris was last spotted taking his dog out for a walk on early Monday morning, February 26.
According to KIIITV, Harris' father said that the dog returned, but his son did not. The missing student is described as 5'11" and 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
University releases statement following Caleb Harris' disappearance
"The safety and well-being of our students is our utmost priority," the university continued in its statement.
"We urge anyone with information on Caleb’s whereabouts to contact CCPD at 361.886.2840 or 361.886.2600; or UPD at 361.825.4444. We ask our university community and the public to keep Caleb and his family in your thoughts. TAMU-CC remains hopeful for Caleb’s safe return," the statement added.
On Facebook, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi wrote, "Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi has been made aware of a missing person’s report regarding one of our students, Caleb Harris. According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, Caleb was last seen at an off-campus apartment complex."
What did Caleb Harris' friend say?
A friend of Caleb's joined volunteers to search for the student. "He means a lot to a lot of people," Caleb's friend Ellee Carlisle told the outlet, adding "I think that was very evident for how many people tried to share and get the word out, and how many people came to help out today to try to look for him."
Law enforcement also was part of the search along Ennis Joslin beginning at around 7 am on Wednesday, March 6, looking for clues that could point them in Caleb's direction.
Caleb Harris' father does not think that his son was in danger
Randy Harris, Caleb's father, has expressed that there were no warning signs that his son was intending to leave. "There's just nothing there that would cause us to believe he was in any danger or leaving," he told KIIITV, adding "He had actually ordered in his food for the next day for school."
Caleb Harris left behind most of his valuables
Caleb's father told KIIITV that the student left behind most of his valuables. His keys, wallet, and vehicle were all left at home. However, Caleb was reported to have his phone, but police said it has since been turned off.
