LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cara Delevingne is celebrating her relationship with girlfriend Minke while opening up about how music helped her through a difficult period in her life. Cara Delevingne celebrates five years of reconnecting with Minke
Delevingne celebrated International Lesbian Day on October 8 with a rare Instagram tribute to her girlfriend, Minke, revealing that they had marked five years since reconnecting after knowing each other for 23 years.
“Very cool that this day is two days after we celebrated the 5th anniversary of reconnecting after knowing each other for 23 years,” she wrote. Delevingne added that the occasion gave her an excuse to share pictures of her partner, joking, “Sorry baby but I must!”
The 34-year-old shared several romantic photographs of the couple embracing and kissing. She also joked that they have four anniversaries each year, calling it “the most lesbian thing in the world.”
Delevingne further encouraged her followers to scroll through the pictures, particularly one showing the couple posing on a staircase, which she said would remind them of the importance of photography classes.
She began dating Minke, whose real name is Leah Mason, in 2022 after reconnecting with her former boarding school classmate months earlier. Although the couple generally keeps their relationship private, they have occasionally shared tributes celebrating their bond.
In June 2024, Delevingne marked their second anniversary by reflecting on the changes and challenges they had experienced together. “These past two years have been A LOT of life. A lot of change, growth, pain and most importantly LOVE and I am so lucky to have found the perfect person to ride life’s ups and downs with,” she wrote.
Cara Delevingne reveals how Minke inspired her album 'Not Normal'
Delevingne also recently spoke to Elle about her debut album, 'Not Normal,' released on September 25 through Warner Music. The 12-track project includes the singles 'The Mask' and 'Crazy, Baby,' alongside collaborations with American singer-songwriter Fiona Apple.
The musician revealed she worked on the album for three years, although some songs dated back to her teenage years. She explained that the opening and closing tracks were poems written when she was around 18 and 25, respectively, both composed on planes.
Delevingne said the creative process helped her develop a better relationship with herself. “I believed in myself and tried making friends with myself,” she explained, adding that producing the album had helped keep her “sane and sober.”
Speaking about 'Crazy, Baby,' she revealed that the song was inspired by Minke, whom she described as a talented musician. Her partner co-wrote two songs on the album, and the pair now works together regularly.
“She has skills that I do not and we balance each other out in such an amazing way in the studio and in life,” Delevingne said, describing the track as one of the album's more upbeat, pop-oriented songs.
Earlier in the summer, Delevingne also discussed her sobriety journey on 'The Louis Theroux Podcast,' revealing that Minke had called the police during her overdose. She described the experience as difficult for her partner and said it made her realize she needed to seek help and spend time away, adding that she had support from sober people she admired.
