LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Reese Witherspoon celebrated her son Deacon Phillippe’s birthday by wishing him publicly on Instagram.

Deacon, whom Witherspoon shares with her first husband Ryan Phillippe, recently turned 23. To mark the special day, the ‘Legally Blonde’ star posted photos of herself with him.

Many celebrities commented below them, but it was Chelsea Handler’s comment that caught the attention.

The 51-year-old comedian wrote, “Happy Birthday, Deacon. You two look like a couple in the first slide.”

Handler was referring to the first image shared by Witherspoon that showed her leaning against her son as they posed in front of a beach.

Reese Witherspoon recalls the birth of son Deacon Phillippe

The 50-year-old actress’ sweet caption read, “Happy Birthday to my son Deacon, who is turning 23 today! The year you were born, there was a fire in LA. Raging all around us.”

“Somehow that fire forged you: You were born into the light, you carry it inside you, and you help us see it in ourselves.  I love you so much, so lucky to be your mom. 🩵✨,” she added.

Witherspoon is also the mother of Ava Elizabeth Phillippe, 27, whom she had with Ryan. The actor, 52, and the actress were married from 1999 to 2008.

The ‘Cruel Intentions’ actress’ third child is Tennessee James Toth, whom she shares with her second husband Jim Toth. The two tied the knot in 2011 but divorced in 2023.

Reese Witherspoon expressed gratefulness toward her children

In 2021, Witherspoon shed light on her relationship with her older children.

She reportedly shared in an interview, “I never expected the kind of relationship that I have with them, but it’s so rewarding to be able to have kids that you can process life with a little bit, and they help me understand the complexities of what it means to be a human now.”

“So I’m really, really grateful that these little humans are in my life. Adult humans. I have two adult children now, Tracee. It’s crazy,” the Academy Award-winning actress added.

Moreover, Witherspoon once spoke about motherhood on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’. “There’s a lot of compromise ... You feel like that’s what makes me wake up on a Sunday, it’s not movies or my job, it’s my kids. Being a mom is really great, it’s a big part of my life. I would say it’s the biggest part of my life,” she said.

Reese Witherspoon called her daughter Ava Elizabeth Phillippe 'infinitely creative'

Meanwhile, the recent social media post came over a month after Witherspoon posted a photo with her daughter Ava to mark her 27th birthday.

The mother-daughter duo looked almost the same in the picture. The actress captioned the image, “Happy birthday to my sweet girl Ava! Infinitely creative, thoughtful and hilarious. Keep shining your beautiful light, my girl. I love you! 💗✨.”
