Reese Witherspoon's son Deacon Phillippe acknowledges being ‘lucky’ ahead of film acting debut
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe’s son Deacon Phillippe has expressed gratitude for his privileged background but has also insisted on carving his own path.
The 22-year-old is set to make his feature film acting debut in the upcoming movie, ‘Brother Save Us’, premiering at the Nashville Film Festival on Saturday, September 26.

Deacon, who previously appeared in episodes of ‘Never Have I Ever’ and ‘Motorheads’, spoke to Variety on Thursday.
“I acknowledge that I’m extremely lucky, but you know, at the same time, I hold myself to a standard. I’m not really looking to prove anything to anyone but myself to try to be the best version I can be, the best person I can be and work as hard as I can,” he shared.
“A lot of people are going to assume things… All I can do is do my thing, and show that I want to work extremely, extremely hard,” the 22-year-old added.
Deacon Phillippe says he is 'beyond grateful for my education'
The aspiring musician, who recently graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, further told the publication that he’s grateful for the education he received.
“That was a really big thing, and I think I’m really glad I was pushed to make sure I got that done. I’m beyond grateful for my education, and I think it's provided so many things,” he added.
Deacon, whose song has reportedly been used in his new movie, also revealed, “I went to school partly for recorded music at the Clive Davis Institute, and we ended up recording the end credits song that I wrote with two of my friends from college at school because we had these state-of-the-art studios.”

Deacon is Witherspoon’s first son, whom she shares with her first husband, Ryan Phillippe. The actress, 50, welcomed a second son, Tennessee James Toth, 13, with her second husband, Jim Toth.
The ‘Legally Blonde’ star is also the mother of a daughter, Ava Elizabeth Phillippe, 27, whom she shares with Ryan.

Deacon and Tennessee share a great bond, and as per the 22-year-old, he was drawn to his new film because of his love for his younger brother.
“I just remember feeling surprised that someone could write exactly how I feel about my little brother. That depth of love in a script is just something you rarely get to see,” he explained.
