Chelsea Handler says she still hasn’t moved into RFK Jr, Cheryl Hines’ ‘most toxic’ $6M LA home
BRENTWOOD, TENNESSEE: Chelsea Handler isn't holding back her frustration with Robert F Kennedy Jr and his wife, Cheryl Hines, over the "toxic" mansion she bought from them for $5.9 million in 2021.
The comedian revealed that, despite years of ownership, the house was in such poor condition that she still hasn't moved in, saying, “I bought RFK Jr’s house in Los Angeles five years ago. I still have not lived in this house, that’s how messed up this house was.”
Chelsea Handler slams RFK Jr home foundation issues
During an episode of her podcast, ‘Dear Chelsea,’ Handler explained how the 1937 property turned out to be a structural nightmare.
She questioned how the current Health and Human Services secretary could manage national health when his own home was in such poor condition.
Handler noted the irony of the situation by stating, “The idea that this guy is in charge of the health of our country when he didn’t even have a proper foundation at his house.”
She mentioned that the sale was originally done through private trusts to keep things quiet, but the truth came out once inspections began.

The renovation process brought even more bad news, as contractors warned her that the environment was not safe.
Handler said the issues were hidden until the very last minute, even though she was told the home was ready for her.
“When they opened up the house, they were like, ‘This house is the most toxic environment,” she shared, adding that she was told “everything’s been redone” before the real problems surfaced.
She also discovered an illegal storage building on the property that had to be torn down. Looking at the RFK Jr-era additions, she said, “Now we have to remove his illegal things from my property.”
Chelsea Handler jokes about her own real estate mistakes
Even a friendly note from Cheryl Hines didn't help smooth things over after the sale was finalized.
Handler recalled Hines writing, “‘Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you, Chelsea,'” to which Handler thought, “I’m like, yeah, how about a messed up foundation.”
While she joked that “I’m totally over it,” she also admitted she has made her own real estate mistakes in the past.
She once turned a five-bedroom Bel Air home into a two-bedroom just to stop family from overstaying, which reduced the home's value. Before selling that property for $10.3 million, she had to fix it, saying, “I had to turn the two bedrooms back into five bedrooms.”
