Cher's son Elijah Blue Allman files court documents denying mental illness amid conservatorship dispute
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cher’s son Elijah Blue Allman has pushed back his mother’s allegations against him by filing new documents presenting his side to the court.
The singer reportedly wants to become her son’s conservator after accusing him of drug addiction and mental health issues.
Elijah Blue Allman claims he does ‘not need a conservatorship’
However, according to reports by People, the 47-year-old has stated in new documents filed on April 4, "I do not require a conservatorship."
He explained, “I understand that a conservatorship is appropriate for a person who is substantially unable to manage his own financial resources or resist fraud or undue influence.”
Allman, however, asserted that he is "capable of managing my own financial resources and resisting fraud and undue influence. I do not require a conservatorship."

The son of the late Gregg Allman also noted, “My mother's petition raises dual concerns that I suffer from some mental illness and that I live hand-to-mouth using my trust distributions to buy drugs and place myself in mortal danger.”
“As I have mentioned in previous pleadings, I have struggled with addiction, but I am not mentally ill. The absence of evidence of the concerns (related to ‘cyclical’ mental illness addiction) raised in the petition over the last four months is evidence that I have control over my faculties and that I am not mentally ill,” he insisted.
In his filing, the musician further expressed, "The world is full of addicts and individuals with mental health challenges who do not have a trust distribution to rely on. The only person who can overcome my struggles is myself — and I am actively doing so."

In his legal documents, Allman also highlighted his "strained relationship" with his prominent mother, providing an example.
He mentioned, "On October 17, 2023, my mother arranged for me to travel to Mexico under the guise of receiving 'holistic alternative therapy.' Upon arrival, I discovered that I was not there for holistic/alternative treatment and, in fact, was not allowed to leave."
“My mother is 77 years old and will be 78 when this matter is heard. I have seen her suffer with depression in the past and I do not believe that she is capable of making appropriate decisions for my estate,” Allman added.
