Hayes reminded viewers that such misinformation was behind the armed mob that stormed the Capitol in 2020. He expressed concern that “if left unabated, I fear it is going to get people hurt again".

Chris Hayes highlighted the significant danger misinformation poses, particularly during this election cycle, arguing that the term “misinformation” fails to fully capture the depth of the issue.
He stated, “Outright, brazen, dangerous, ludicrous lies in denial of the most obvious reality… has become not just the primary tactic for Donald Trump and JD Vance’s running mate, but the operating principle, increasingly, for the entire Republican Party.”
To illustrate his point, Hayes referenced a recent interview where Trump, confronted with positive economic data, instead spread false claims, including a racist assertion that “you have illegals coming in, and they’re taking the jobs".
Hayes countered, emphasizing, “A lie, just a lie. Donald Trump knows the economy is doing very well. He knows the quote, illegals, undocumented, unauthorized workers, haven’t taken all the jobs. Inflation has cooled. Jobs are up, a lot. Wages are up. The stock market is booming."

Chris Hayes also discussed an odd claim made by Donald Trump regarding JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon.
Trump's Truth Social account posted a message on October 3, Thursday, claiming Dimon had endorsed him. But Dimon's spokesperson clarified, "Jamie Dimon has not endorsed anyone. He has not endorsed a candidate."
Following the revelation that Dimon had not endorsed Trump, the former president deflected blame, stating, “Well, then somebody is using his name.”
Hayes next called out Florida Senator Marco Rubio for his misleading statements about the jobs report.
Hayes remarked on the pervasive nature of these lies, stating, “At some level, it’s not anything new, right? We’ve been living with this for so long. Everyone knows Trump and his MAGA cronies are liars, but there’s real danger here, right? The lies are dangerous.”
He cited the “big lie” surrounding the 2020 election, noting its role in inciting the January 6 insurrection and its continued presence in Trump’s rhetoric.
“This lie caused the deadly January 6 insurrection,” Hayes stated, adding, “Trump may be priming supporters to do it all over again a month from now. In fact, he seems dead set on that if he loses.”
Hayes highlighted a racist narrative Trump has pushed regarding Haitian migrants eating pets, which has incited threats in schools and public spaces.
He pointed out that JD Vance admitted the story about Haitians was "a lie" but it has led to real-world consequences and literally caused threats against schools and people in Springfield.

Additionally, Chris Hayes criticized Marjorie Taylor Greene for recently suggesting the weather can be controlled.
“Yes they can control the weather,” she had tweeted recently. “It’s ridiculous for anyone to lie and say it can’t be done.” This came after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc in many states.
While she did not specify who the "they" signified, Greene was called out for pushing this conspiracy theory.
Hayes called it “a pretty shocking lie,” adding, “actually, it’s out past a lie."
"'A lie’ doesn’t really do it justice. It’s a lurid delusion. It’s a form of madness she’s hoping to spread.”
He expressed concern about the impact of such "madness", stating that it has driven some Republican leaders to plead with their party colleagues to stop perpetuating these falsehoods.
“What do you even do with stuff like that?” Hayes asked, acknowledging the profound “epistemic breakdown” affecting many Americans.
He concluded by stating that this persistent lying has real consequences, linking it to the violence seen at the Capitol and warning that it will have serious consequences again.
"Nearly four years ago, it brought an armed angry mob to our nation’s capital, and if left unabated, I fear it is going to get people hurt again," he said.
