Schumer argued that the speech did not clearly explain what the United States hopes to achieve through its actions in Iran. He also warned that the administration’s approach could damage relationships with key allies.
“Donald Trump’s actions in Iran will be considered one of the greatest policy blunders in the history of our country, failing to articulate objectives, alienating allies, and ignoring the kitchen table problems Americans are facing,” Schumer said.
According to his statement, Trump’s strategy has “failed to articulate objectives” and is “alienating allies,” while also “ignoring the kitchen table problems Americans are facing.”
The remarks came soon after Trump outlined his administration’s position on the ongoing conflict. Lawmakers in Washington have responded to the speech as tensions involving Iran continue to escalate.

Schumer also questioned Trump’s fitness for the role of commander-in-chief in his statement.
“He is completely unfit to be Commander-in-Chief and the whole world knows it,” he said.
Trump’s speech came at a time when tensions with Iran were rising and military activity in the region was ongoing. Administration officials have said the operations are aimed at countering security threats and protecting US interests.
During the address, Trump defended the administration’s strategy and suggested that US military objectives could soon be achieved
“Thanks to the progress we’ve made, I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly, very shortly,” Trump said.
He also warned that further strikes could occur in the coming weeks.
“We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We’re going to bring them back to the Stone Ages very shortly, where they belong. In the meantime, discussions are ongoing.”
Trump also touted what he described as “overwhelming victories on the battlefield” and suggested the operation could conclude soon, repeating his prediction that the objectives would be completed “shortly.”
