WASHINGTON, DC: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer mocked President Donald Trump on Monday, November 3, by joking that he might file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) against CBS’s '60 Minutes' for “editing” Trump’s “unhinged” interview.

Trump’s exchange with journalist Norah O’Donnell at Mar-a-Lago aired on Sunday, though the broadcast version ran only for about 30 minutes. CBS later uploaded both the full interview and a transcript online.

Chuck Schumer references the Kamala Harris interview controversy

Schumer pounced on the controversy, taunting Trump by echoing the language he once used to sue CBS for the alleged deceptive editing of an October 2024 interview with then–Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Maybe I should file a complaint with the FCC against the Trump White House for editing his unhinged 60 Minutes interview,” Schumer wrote on X.

“It will use the exact same language Trump lodged against Vice President Harris,” he added.

CBS, while denying any wrongdoing in the Harris case, paid Trump a settlement shortly before federal regulators approved its parent company, Paramount’s, merger with Skydance Media.

Throughout the '60 Minutes' interview, Trump couldn’t resist boasting about the payout, claiming that the network had been forced to compensate him for “fake news.”

He mocked Harris as not a “very intelligent person” and celebrated the settlement as proof of his long-standing claims of media bias.

“'60 Minutes' paid me a lotta money,” he said, adding that CBS had altered Harris’ responses in 2024 in a way that was “election-changing.”

Trump praises Bari Weiss amid clash with host

Trump also lavished praise on CBS’s new leadership, hailing new editorial head Bari Weiss as “a great person,” signaling his approval of what he described as a “new era” in the media.

The conversation turned heated when O’Donnell questioned Trump about his pardon of crypto billionaire Changpeng 'CZ' Zhao.

Trump, visibly irritated, claimed ignorance of Zhao’s case and dismissed allegations of corruption. He also threatened to walk out mid-interview.

“I could have walked away,” Trump said. “I didn’t have to answer to this question.”

Trump says the 2020 elections were 'rigged'

Trump repeatedly returned to his familiar refrain that the 2020 election had allegedly been “rigged,” using the term about six times during the extended interview.

"This was a rigged election... We don’t ever want that to happen again,” he said.

He argued that the stolen race had led to global instability and blamed former President Joe Biden for the war in Ukraine and US foreign policy setbacks.

“They had no respect for Biden,” Trump added.

"I inherited that stupid war. That should not have been a war. That would’ve never happened if I were president. And by the way, for four years it didn’t happen," he added.

When asked about recent acts of political violence, including attempts on his life, Trump claimed that violence was “primarily on the left” before veering into a tangent about the ongoing government shutdown.

“I think they have to approve the shutdown so it’s not shut down,” he said, accusing Democrats of hurting people and using the funding crisis for political leverage.
