'Not a good look': Internet abuzz as Donald Trump triumphs in Pennsylvania but loses votes to Nikki Haley
HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA: People on social media couldn't stop talking about Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, who managed to snag a significant chunk of votes away from Donald Trump.
This surprising turn of events came despite Trump's victory in the Pennsylvania elections, leaving many users wondering.
On Tuesday, Pennsylvanians headed to the polls to participate in the state's primary races. The outcomes of these races laid down the preferences of voters in this pivotal battleground state, offering valuable insights roughly six months before the general election, according to reporting by the Guardian.
Donald Trump lost a chunk of votes to Nikki Haley despite her exit weeks ago
According to Reuters, both Trump and current POTUS Joe Biden secured victories in their respective primaries in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state. However, a significant number of voters threw their support behind former candidate Haley.
Pennsylvania holds 19 Electoral College votes, making it a crucial target in the 2024 presidential race. This primary served as one of the final indicators of voter enthusiasm in a campaign overshadowed by the low approval ratings of both candidates.
With nearly half of the votes tallied, Biden garnered 491,892 votes, capturing 94.4% of the total, based on state election data. Meanwhile, Trump received 268,670 votes, representing 79.4% of the counted ballots.
Interestingly, despite dropping out of the race earlier, Nikki Haley still managed to accumulate 70,648 votes, constituting 20.6% of the total, as reported by Reuters.
Despite withdrawing from the race in March, Haley's name remained on the Pennsylvania ballot. However, since the primary is limited to registered Republicans, independent voters who may have supported her were unable to participate, Reuters stated.
Internet says GOP in-party rift is growing

Another noted, "Exactly! If candidate who is no longer in the race can pull of that many votes in a key battleground state then it's not a good look for sure!"
