WASHINGTON, DC: CNN's chief data analyst Harry Enten said on Sunday, August 3, that President Donald Trump is the "most influential president this century" while talking about the major transformations brought by him on tariffs, immigration, and other issues.

The data guru argued that the 79-year-old "has been tremendously influential to a historic degree" within the first six months of his second term.

Harry Enten says Donald Trump is 'remaking the United States'

During the weekend segment on CNN, Harry Enten said, "Love it, like it, lump it — Trump’s remaking the United States of America. I can’t think of a more influential president during this century."

Moreover, the data guru noted that the highest average US tariff rate in effect on another country has jumped from 2 percent in 2024 up to about 18 percent, which is the largest rate in the US since the 1930s.

On immigration, Enten noted that net migration into the US appears to be trending down sharply, by at least 60 percent, from 2.8 million in 2024.

He said, "We may be dealing with — get this — negative net migration to the United States in 2025. That would be the first time there is negative net migration in this country in at least 50 years."

"Trump has always run on tariffs, and he’s running a hawkish line on immigration and, on both of those issues — we are seeing record-high tariff rates for this century, and when it comes to immigration, net migration, we are seeing record low levels," Enten noted.

Considering these factors, the CNN data guru contended that Trump is the most influential president "probably dating a good [chunk back] into the 20th century."

Additionally, Enten pointed out that Trump's use of executive orders, having signed 180 of them in the first half of 2025, surpassed all of his predecessors dating back to Franklin D Roosevelt.

Internet divided as Harry Enten dubs Donald Trump 'most influential president this century'

Many internet users shared mixed reactions as Harry Enten called Donald Trump the "most influential president this century" while talking about the major transformations brought by him on tariffs, immigration, and other issues.

A user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "There’s no doubt about that," and another added, "We know, more than half of Americans agree."

A person stated, "The Greatest Ever in my lifetime," whereas one mentioned, "So not only is @POTUS the most influential, but he really holds all the cards on this planet and why people really complain and don’t want him to make the changes we all need to prosper."

Meanwhile, a user wrote, "Absolutely, negative influence," and another remarked, "Please, cross verify the same CNN was telling trump is a liar!"

"Influential but not in a good way," a netizen bluntly stated, with another saying, "Being the 'most influential' isn’t necessarily a good thing. Jared Fogle is the most influential subway spokesperson in history. It’s not because of the great things he did."
