NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: CNN has found itself embroiled in controversy after reportedly airing altered images involving Donald Trump and Laura Loomer during news segments on September 20 and 21.

The images, which showed Trump and Loomer flying together as the former president traveled for his presidential debate, were later revealed to be photoshopped, as per Snopes.

The network issued an on-air apology on September 26, acknowledging the error.

However, Loomer, who has long been critical of mainstream media, was far from satisfied with CNN's response, leading her to threaten legal action against the network and its anchors.

The controversy erupted when CNN used the digitally altered images of Trump and Loomer across various news segments.

It wasn’t until several days later that the network admitted the photos were not authentic.

The acknowledgment came in the form of a public apology, which was delivered during a live broadcast by female anchor Pamela Brown on September 26.

The network’s statement read, "On Friday evening and on Saturday, CNN aired a number of segments that briefly showed an image of former president Donald Trump and Laura Loomer taken from social media. On review, this image had been digitally altered by a third party and should not have been included. We regret the error."

Despite the network’s attempt to rectify the situation with this apology, Loomer was not appeased.

CNN’s quick admission that the image had been altered didn’t alleviate Loomer's frustrations.

Loomer, who has built her career on challenging mainstream media narratives, took to social media to express her dissatisfaction with how the apology was handled.

On August 13, 2023, Loomer shared an authentic photograph on social media, commenting that she was thoroughly enjoying her day watching the LIV Golf tournament with Trump.

Later, a modified version of this image surfaced, showing clear indications of manipulation, particularly in the areas of Trump's lower shirt and upper pants region. It's worth noting that in Loomer's original image, Trump's pants were not visible.

Laura Loomer accuses Anderson Cooper of cowardice for not delivering apology himself

In response to CNN’s on-air apology, Laura Loomer targeted anchor Anderson Cooper, the well-known host of 'Anderson Cooper 360'.

In a scathing post on X (formerly Twitter), Loomer accused Cooper of cowardice for not delivering the apology himself.

She criticized the decision to have a female anchor issue the apology, calling it a "defamatory" and "misogynistic" move.

Loomer’s tweet read, "Anderson Cooper is a coward for not apologizing himself. Instead, he sent a female colleague to do his dirty work for him. This was a sick, misogynistic, and defamatory attack on me, and he needs to be held accountable."

Loomer didn’t stop there. She went on to demand that Cooper issue a written retraction of the segment, giving him an ultimatum: if he failed to comply, she would pursue legal action against him.

Her fiery message ended with a call for accountability from CNN and other media outlets, stating, "It’s time for you fake news freaks to be held accountable for your lies and deception."

But Cooper wasn’t the only media figure Loomer had in her sights. In the same tweet, she threatened to sue HBO’s Bill Maher, accusing the political commentator of spreading misinformation about her in the past.

Loomer’s legal threats highlight her deep frustration with what she perceives as a pattern of attacks from major media outlets, particularly CNN, which she claims has targeted her multiple times.
